Volvo Car Group have set a Safety Vision 2020, that no one should be killed or seriously injured in a new Volvo car by 2020. Developing self-driving vehicles and state-of-the-art active safety technology are key components pursuing this vision. In order to make this happen, we are now recruiting new talents to our in-house SW development team. Creating new solutions will require new thinking, drive and courage. Is this you? You will take part in an agile team within the department Active safety & Vehicle Dynamics functions. The department delivers Collision Avoidance, Autonomous Drive, Driver support and Vehicle Dynamics functionality towards both new car programs and research programs such as the Drive Me project. The teams are responsible for developing functionality, which ranges from assessing the situation and taking safety precautions to analysing the driver state, making decisions and controlling the vehicle. In the All-new XC90 the teams put state of the art functionality into production, taking the first steps towards a self-driving car with the semi-autonomous Pilot Assist functionality and large steps towards the Volvo Car 2020 Safety Vision by scoring a record-breaking 100% in crash avoidance and driver assist in the Euro NCAP testing.
As Function and Software developer, you will work in all phases of the development from early specifications, function model development and SW generation to launch and costumer quality validation. You will be able to develop leadership and technical skills and guide junior members of the team. The role spans over several technical areas. Since the functions are distributed over different parts of the car architecture, your network and interaction will be wide and challenging. The team consists of engineers of varying age, gender, experience and background, all of whom you will learn from. You will work in a global, dynamic & respectful environment. Main responsibilities
• Function, model and software development
Required qualifications
• Five years' work experience from product development and/or function and SW development, of those at least 3 years within the Driver Support and Active Safety, ADAS
• Experience from function development and model development
• Hands on experience from coding in embedded Matlab, C, C++ or equivalent
• M.Sc. Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Computer Science or equivalent with emphasis on control theory, signal processing and function design
• Excellent English skills, verbally and in writing
• Driver's licence (B-level)
