This Master thesis covers development of a universal digital interface aimed for Saab Fiber Optic Gyro (FOG) product line.
Background information & Place of action
Avionics Systems, a business unit of Saab, is one of the world's premier suppliers of solutions for surveillance, avionics and systems for continuously improved safe and efficient aviation.
At our site in Jönköping a core business are developing computer based systems and components for the next generation of aircrafts and systems from world leading manufacturers. This Master thesis will be performed in the Saab FOG group which is working with marketing, specification, development and verification of gyro products mainly used for stabilization of different customer applications.
Your role
Task description
The Master Thesis objective is to define both an electrical circuit solution and a software solution of a digital interface optimized for our Fiber Optic Gyro units. We believe the work have to start with a study of our existing interface, available interfaces of similar products and applicable customer requirements. Based on this study a circuit definition has to be defined. After acceptance of this definition the hardware and software design based on the definition should be performed as part of the thesis.
Initially also some investigations has to be performed by studying the FOG and by doing hands on measurements on our present products to get an understanding of the requirements of the final solution.

The Master thesis position is at the Saab facilities in Jönköping. The position is suitable for one student. We are looking for a student with suitable educational background, having power of initiative and ability to structure the work to be performed. Wanted start date is mid/late August 2015, can be discussed.
Qualifications
Master and Bachelor of Science students may apply for the position. Interest and knowledge of electronic design and programming is required for the position.
