Reuters is seeking a creative and ambitious journalist to drive European coverage of technology and telecommunications, dynamic and fast-changing sectors at the heart of the global economy.
This position is based in Stockholm, home to telecom heavyweight Ericsson as well as a lively start-up scene that has produced multi-billion-dollar businesses such as Spotify, Skype and Paypal rival Klarna. Nokia and other technology companies in northern Europe, including regional blue chips such as Telia, Telenor and the stable of technology firms controlled by the billionaire Stenbeck family, would be a key part of the beat. The correspondent would also work closely with the Global Technology Editor and colleagues across Europe and around the world to shed light on a range of topics including artificial intelligence, autonomous vehicles, technology regulation, the fall-out from the U.S.-China trade war and Europe's efforts to compete in sectors such as semiconductors. The position would at times involve working with experienced colleagues to cover major breaking news outside the main beat and shouldering some bureau-specific tasks.
The successful candidate will thrive in a role that requires strong source-building skills and the ability to generate exclusive stories and agenda-setting ideas that creatively tell the tale of the tech revolution. S/he will be equally comfortable covering breaking news and diving deeply into initiative work. We're looking for a dynamic journalist who is a team player and can help drive a must-read technology news file serving a vast global audience.
The largest city in a Nordic region that routinely tops quality-of-life rankings, Stockholm is vibrant and charming hub on the Baltic Sea within easy distance of European cities such Berlin, Paris and London and with pristine nature only hours away.
