Equipment Engineer EL, PLC & Safety

Volvo Cars Manufacturing Engineering (VCME) is one of the units within the VCM. We develop and implement quality assured, flexible and efficient production systems in our plants (Body, Painting and Final assembly). Our mission is to strive for a process driven product development by promoting and coordinating activities within Manufacturing Engineering in design and product development stages, with a focus on production effective product solutions. We also support the early phases with specialized expertise and lead the development of common methods for Manufacturing Engineering by coordinating activities within the VCM.

Facilities, Tooling & Equipment (FT & E) acts in the phases; Define, Prepare, Implement and Maintain. In those phases we are responsible for; specification, planning, design, installation and commissioning of process-related equipment for our plants. Our customers are the Manufacturing Engineering (annual, early project phases, industrialization and the current model), Production and Maintenance. Our deliveries are; investigations, cost estimates and installations, in the range from small hand tools to complete robot lines.

The Equipment Engineer is responsible for processing the assignments coming through the Equipment Card system (Ordering system), this aligning our Standard way of working Volvo Cars Manufacturing System. You are responsible to lead and/or conduct equipment projects (Project leading, developing, make cost estimates, plans, write RFQs, write TSU and hand over the equipment to end user; the plant). You are responsible to lead your specialist area EL/PLC and safety within our team.

Main responsibilities

• Lead and/or conducts equipment projects
• Perform analyses of equipment that affects part of the process layout
• Perform or initiate safety, reliability and cost analyses
• Support current production with second-line analyses within your specialist area EL/PLC and Safety
• Contribute to the development of instructions/procedures within the area of responsibility related to equipment projects
• Lead or participate in relevant standard and/or networking technologies
• You create and/or contribute to equipment strategies
• You contribute in early development phases with specialists skills
• You are the go-to person within your specialist area

Required qualifications

• You need a B.Sc within Mechatronics or equivalent experience
• Experienced in project management and the way of working in project environment
• Very good knowledge of Electrical & Control Engineering / PLC, and have experience to propose and evaluate solutions in terms of technology, time and cost
• Experience of working with Siemens PLC and/or Siemens TIA portal is meritorious
• Knowledge of process equipment & industrial automation
• Production Experience
• Fluent in English, written and spoken
• Fluent in Swedish, written and spoken
