THIS IS US, YOUR NEW COLLEAGUES
Innovative Purchasing is function within Group Trucks Purchasing (GTP). Our responsibilities lie in scouting innovation, new technologies and new organizational developments but also to drive and be responsible for the sustainable purchasing program of the Volvo Group.
The mission of the Sustainability function of GTP is to be the:
Interpreter - ensuring awareness of best practices, legislation and tools and their implementation into Purchasing
Shock absorber - interpreting complex sustainability issues and contextualising them
Force multiplier - engaging with our Volvo group colleagues, to enable that we succeed in the Purchasing and Volvo Group Sustainability goals
See-er - understanding the medium and long-term sustainability trends and risks and how these impact the organisation
Conscience - we are the conscience of GTP! Asking questions where needed, challenging practices and ensuring that GTP continues to have a progressive Sustainability agenda.
THE ROLE IN MORE DETAIL
Sustainability for us in GTP means balancing People - Planet - Profit and the role of the Environmental Manager will be to ensure compliance with both external and internal regulatory requirements that affects GTP and Volvo Group suppliers. This means being responsible for ensuring that our Supply chain complies with legal requirements mainly in the areas of Substances of Concerns but also other requirements such as ISO 14001 certification and IMDS compliance. However, the Environmental Manager will also be a strong contributor of our Sustainability agenda and together with the team lead the work in building a strong Sustainability program to protect our planet. This means driving the work to reduce the environmental impact and footprint of our supply chain by setting tools, guidelines and processes. You will have the possibility to be part of a strong team where you in parallel can develop your personal profile.
YOUR CONTRIBUTION
Full control of all environmental legislations affecting GTP and our supply chain, translate it into GTP needs and ensure compliance thereof (e.g. REACH, RoHS etc.)
Owner of the IMDS and ISO14001 processes, ensuring that suppliers submit valid MDS reports and ISO certifications
Work, collaborate and stay connected with other Environmental functions and teams within the Group as well as with other external networks
Represent GTP in internal cross-functional Working Groups and Committees in the Environmental area.
Secure that the Environment and all connected tools and processes are included and well represented in the overall purchasing processes
Absorb and consolidate Sustainability and Environmental business intelligence and translate it into GTP value.
Act as first point of contact for GTP for questions connected to Environment and Environmental Compliance.
Secure escalation of major risks as well as actual cases according to escalation procedures. Secure administrative procedures connected to this escalation
Secure follow-up of related KPI/PIs
Define training needs and provide necessary training within environmental tools and processes in GTP
Actively contribute and take part in the buildup, implementation and roll-out of the Sustainable Purchasing Program of GTP through various projects in the area of Environment
Act as a true change agent in terms of supporting GTP in driving the Sustainability agenda - your enthusiasm and passion will be key to success
Able to switch between strategic and operational tasks such as hands on analysis, collection of data, supplier contacts etc
WHO YOU ARE
You have a relevant education, experience and background for this position, preferably from the automotive sector and working with supply chains. You have very good knowledge of ISO14001 and legislation connected to Substances of Concerns such as REACH, RoHS etc. You are going to be our subject matter expert that both our internal people as well as suppliers can turn to in order to ask questions about environmental questions and compliance.
You get energy from motivating and engaging with people and you feel comfortable in interacting and networking on various different levels both vertically and horizontally. This applies both inside the Volvo Group as well as externally. You understand that Sustainability is all about passion and that you have to live the mission in order to create engagement!
You are eager to learn and your project management skills are excellent. You enjoy working in a fast-paced environment where one day does not look the same as the other. You are a self-manager and you are able to execute with strong confidence, but you also enjoy working in a team where speed and agility but also fun and laughter go hand in hand. You also have excellent language and communication skills and you are fluent in English both in written and spoken engagements.
