The Strategic Research function is a central core function at SMT supporting all three divisions, Tube, Strip and Kanthal. We work with long-term strategic goals, to move the company in a materials (r)evolution direction. Our materials are used in the most demanding environments where our products contribute to our customers productivity, process reliability, sustainability and cost efficiency.
At the department Strategic Research Labs, we now have an open position as Environmental, health and safety engineer. The position supports several organizations in Sandviken, Sweden: Strategic research, R&D Tube, R&D Metallurgy, Testing technology, Process technology and Tube quality. The different teams include highly skilled engineers, specialists, experts, laboratory technicians and workers in the mechanical workshop and Tube delivery test facility.
Job Summary
You will work in close cooperation with the organization to govern and improve environment, health and safety in a systematic and planned way. This work includes mapping of existing and future work environments, train managers, safety representatives and employees. The work also involves support to the organization in risk assessments, technical investigations as well as various measurements in our work place environments.
You are also instrumental in supporting the improvement of safety culture, human-machine-organization collaboration, causal analysis and the behavioral aspects of safety. Environmental issues, including energy, are also part of the work. The position presents a varied set of duties with interesting and challenging tasks where you act in close cooperation with fantastic people who really like their work.
The location for this position is Sandviken, Sweden and you will report to the Director of Strategic Research Labs.
Your profile
We are looking for someone with a strong environmental, health and safety engineering background. You have good experience from the safety coordination role and good knowledge in the ISO 14001, ISO50001 and ISO45001 standards. If you have experience from internal auditing processes it is an advantage. You must be fluent in the Swedish language. However, as we operate on the global stage, your English skills must be excellent as well.
