A fully qualified pre-school teacher with Swedish validation, who can see and enjoy the benefits of working within various teams. Your main aims will be to see each child's individual needs and share your own enthusiasm and joy when helping them to develop in ways that they could otherwise have only dreamt of. You will help each unique child to succeed and feel confident in their own abilities, as you continuously challenge them and use your educational pedagogy to inform how you work with that child's learning process. It is important for you to be in an environment where both you and your colleagues are happy and feel respected for your individual and professional qualities.
You are clear about what you would like and how you feel, without overshadowing the opinions of others. You are creative, enjoy coming up with new ideas and dare to think and rethink options, whilst always putting the children's needs first. The most important factor is that you have the desire and ability to evolve and not that you are already a fully-developed teacher. You will need to have a basic understanding of Swedish or a willingness to learn, as you will receive some correspondence in Swedish and the occasional meeting will also be held in Swedish. It is also important that you have a work visa (if you're outside the EU) and a Swedish personal number before applying.
What we offer:
A 100% full-time position in our pre-school, within the department that educates children between the ages of 3-5 years of age. Our ethos is to introduce and contribute to increasing life opportunities through education and learning. Children have differing abilities and interests and we provide an environment where we are able to cater to their varying needs. Our children are in small groups consisting of 7-8 children, who have a close working and personal relationship with an educator who is responsible for their learning and general development. We work long hours so that the children will not be interrupted during their learning process, as research shows that children that are constantly disrupted tend to cease their engagement in play, and therefore their learning.
We try to appreciate the outdoors and nature as much as possible and spend as much time as possible outside to create a balance with the inside materials. Indoors, we have a clear and structured learning environment. Our rooms are organised by subject headings such as Nature, Mathematics, Language, Building and Construction, Sensory and Practical, Drama, Craft and Art and they all fall under the educational umbrella of Play. Since Autumn 2011, we have been a bi-lingual school, which in our case, means that about 50% of our teachers are English speaking. The children are greeted each day by both Swedish-speaking and English-speaking teachers, helping them to develop the two languages in parallel.
