1. Highly technical, expected to contribute to the code base on a regular basis
2. Fully responsible for the direct reports in your care, able to help them grow, ensuring they have the right skills and workflows to deliver with quality
3. Accountable for the technical delivery in your immediate team, where most of your of influence lies
4. Contribute at the craft level by participating in technical forums and sharing knowledge

You work closely with other crafts to align on expectations around deliveries in your team

- Accountable for the velocity and technical quality metrics of the deliveries of your team
- Break down high level objectives into smaller executable tasks
- Accountable that your team proactively mitigates live incidents

You ensure smooth technical operations and risk management in your team
- Proactively identify and raise awareness of technical risks that could impact deliveries
- Address technical risks early
- Advocate for technical impediment removal to ensure seamless team operations
- Share clear visibility of tech decisions made to mitigate risks
- Adopt a security first approach to risk
You follow the guiding question: "How do I build a team where AI increases quality, not just speed?"
- Creates the conditions for high-judgment, responsible AI use: clear standards for AI output review, psychological safety to escalate uncertainty, and shared accountability for the production behaviour of AI-generated work.
- Coaches engineers to define intent before prompting and to own the full lifecycle of what AI produces.
- Supports AI Champions and creates space for the team to learn and experiment with AI tools within the guardrails - treating guardrail compliance as a quality standard, not a bureaucratic overhead.
You are accountable for the performance management of your direct reports
- Use coaching and mentoring effectively with your direct reports
- Have an overview on how your direct reports are performing and growth opportunities for each individual
- Accountable for performance management for your direct reports
- Drive performance improvement plans for people in your direct reports
You actively use professional growth tools for your direct reports
- Identify and create opportunities for emerging leaders

- Prepare promotion cases for your direct reports and offer support where needed

You are accountable for recruitment & HR processes for your direct and indirect reports
- Part of driving the recruitment process for your direct and indirect reports
- Actively use staffing and recruiting tools
- Accountable for hiring decisions and onboarding new people for your direct and indirect reports
- Accountable for tracking expected/unexpected absences
- Knowledge about relevant HR processes related to your direct and indirect
- You identify inefficiencies in the onboarding process and collaborate with your manager to tailor it to craft-specific needs
