As Engineering Manager for our Firmware System team, you are responsible for building and managing a team of highly skilled software developers and driving the team towards its goals. You will have the overall responsibility and your main tasks will include:
Driving cross functional development
Delivering end to end solutions
Strategy
Recruitment
Budgeting
Teambuilding
Appraisal, development and salary talks
Allocate resources to projects
Follow up and evaluate projects
Run the tactical operations
Speaking partner in technical discussions
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
You have a Master's degree in computer science (or similar) and documented leadership skills. You have several years' experience as a manager and project manager of software development teams.
You have experience of agile ways of working and you enjoy networking with people in different positions and departments. You lead by example and you're passionate about software development. You are a person who enjoys taking responsibility and you excel at motivating and encouraging the people you work with.
You have experience in leading cross functional teams spanning several technical areas and you are aware of the advantages and challenges in this way of working.
We also believe you have a genuine interest and talent in leading people and teams. It is important for you to know and understand your employees, and you will do whatever it takes to make their situation as good as possible while still getting the most out of your organization.
You find it easy to interact with individuals as well as organizations, and can negotiate when needed. You combine the skill of listening with the skill of deciding, and can find a good balance in between the two.
Experience from working with open source, embedded Linux and connected software platforms is a plus.
THE FIRMWARE SYSTEM
The Firmware System team is a new team within the Firmware Platform department. The team consists of two groups, Linux System / Event System and the System team which we want you to build. In addition to this you will be working closely to the Firmware Architects with responsibility spanning all Firmware development within Axis R&D.
We expect you to be a crucial driver of the future way of working at Axis R&D when you take full responsibility in building the new System team. You are not afraid of doing what has never been done before and love to take on a challenge. We expect you to be a key contributor to the Firmware Platform management team.
The teams work closely with other parts of the R&D organization, both other teams working with firmware development and product development as well as teams working with solutions, applications and services that connect to Axis devices through the firmware platform SDK and interfaces.
The team has interfaces to partners that develop embedded applications for Axis products as well as system and application partners that integrate Axis products into their solutions. It is a key hub in Axis Internal R&D eco system and the external eco system consisting of partners as well as the open source communities.
