Primarily on the web, but also complemented with acquisition of data through various side channels. We then apply manual, algorithmic, heuristic and machine learning techniques to normalise and categorise the data. This is then put to use in our app, enabling insightful analysis and automation resulting in a rather unique user experience for online shopping and personal finance.
We are increasing our footprint in Berlin & Stockholm, thus are looking for an experienced engineering manager who can lead team buildup, architecture and roadmap. The team will be working in the cross-section of cloud-based services, mobile applications, financial backend and point-of-sale systems. We are heavy users of JavaScript and AWS, our mobile apps are built in React Native and we use Git, Jenkins and Jira for devops. Your job will be to hire and mentor engineers from diverse backgrounds, establish team practices and work with product owners to drive roadmap and delivery in a rapidly growing organisation.
Responsibilities
Inspire, lead, shape and grow a software engineering organization consisting of 15-20 team members.
Manage and drive procurement for third party products that your team depends on.
Drive continuous improvement focusing on quality in own team and across teams.
Scope and own a problem space, articulate and develop fact based argumentation and present it to senior management or CXOs, develop vision and mission statement.
Prioritise and optimise for highest speed in execution.
Take calculated risks, anchor with different stakeholders and articulate short and long term consequences.
Continuously develop relationships between product, engineering and key stakeholders across all domains.
Influence and drive software design discussions.
Translate business needs into capability build up and hiring plans in own team.
Play a key role in helping us continue attracting, developing and retaining great engineering talent.
Act swiftly to change of direction, re-evaluate priorities and steer the team accordingly.
Manage the budget for the team and dependencies.
Requirements
Experience leading cross functional software engineering teams in a fast paced, delivery focused environment.
Strong coding ability with core skills in at least one of C, JavaScript, Java/Android and Swift/Objective-C.
Strong track record of delivery of influential software, preferably in complex business models and high transaction environment.
Experience designing and building full-stack applications in complex environments.
Mobile, Embedded and IoT experience is a strong plus.
Strong people management skills.
Collaboration and coordination skills.
Self driven and curiosity in mindset.
Stakeholder management ability.
Solid experience in acting independently coupled with strong collaboration and coordination skills.
