Engineering Lead, 3 positions

At Research & Development you will be a key contributor to the next generation outstanding luxury cars from Volvo. The Closure section is responsible for all technologies regarding door, hood, fender and tailgate/bootlid structure. We are also responsible for sealings systems, latches, handles and operating systems for hood, side doors and tailgate/bootlid. We do all engineering from advanced engineering, new model programs, model year changes and running changes. The section is a part of Painted Body & Closures department within Body & Trim (R&D division).

As Engineering Lead you are responsible for manage a cross functional team in order to develop a components and systems, from project definition to secured production ramp-up. You will be responsible for technical, financial and timing targets. This is a great chance to network within Volvo Car Group and an opportunity to get an insight within R&D, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Service etc.

Main responsibilities

• Lead the team and daily manage the design work of a components / system in Catia to reach expected attributes
• Agree solutions with manufacturing for efficient production
• Together with purchasing and cost estimator secure supplier activities
• Plan, monitor and take corrective actions in order to reach cost targets and time planning, internal as well as external
• Product documentations is an important part of the job

Required qualifications

• B.Sc. or similar in experience within Mechanical Engineering
• Documented experience from engineering leadership and design tools in the automotive industry
• Analytical ability and technical interests
• Fluent in English, written and spoken
• Drivers License B
• Good knowledge in sheet metal design or mechatronic engineering is meritorious
• An asset would be M.Sc. degree within some of the fields mentioned above
