hela Sverige Boliden is a high-tech metals company with its own mines and smelters that works long-term to guarantee society's access to base and precious metals. For a century, our work has been part of the value chains that have shaped modern society. At Boliden, we know that the metals we mine and make available will continue to play a crucial role in the future - what matters is how we produce them. Become a part of us and drive change for generations to come.
Are you driven by the challenge of ensuring safety, sustainability, and technical excellence in tailings management? Do you identify with our core values of care, courage and responsibility? If so, this is for you.
Your opportunity
As an Engineer of Record (EoR) at Boliden, you will play a pivotal role in safeguarding our tailings storage facilities (TSF) throughout their entire lifecycle-from design and construction to operation, closure, and post-closure.
Who you will work with
The role of EoR sits with the department of Dam Safety and Geotechnics, within the Sustainability staff function at Boliden Mines. You will be part of a knowledgeable and dynamic team of dedicated professionals responsible for ensuring the integrity and safety of Boliden Mines TSF. As an EoR, you will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to uphold the highest standards of engineering practice and regulatory compliance.
What you will do
As EoR for the Aitik TSF, you will be overseeing the design, construction, operation and closure. You will be responsible for ensuring that the Aitik TSF remains in compliance with regulatory and internal standards including the Global Industry Standard on Tailings Management (GISTM) and other applicable regulations.
You will ensure that all engineering decisions are documented and traceable. This includes facilitating the risk management programme implementation, reviewing and approving engineering designs, construction and as-built reports, and ensuring that monitoring and surveillance programs are in place and effective.
You will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders such as site operations, environmental teams, and senior leadership, as well as external consultants including Designer of Record, third party reviewers, Independent Tailings Review Board (ITRB) and regulatory bodies. You will participate in site-wide efforts for example permitting and Life of Mine planning.
Additionally, as a member of the sustainability staff, you will lead the development and implementation of governance frameworks, provide technical guidance and ensure that all documentation and reporting meet the highest standards of quality and transparency.
This role is critical to ensuring the safe and sustainable management of tailings facilities and contributes directly to Boliden's commitment to responsible mining.
What you bring
If this opportunity rocks your heart and you feel confident you can do the job, please apply. We believe you have/are:
A geotechnical or civil engineer with extensive demonstrated experience in tailings and mine waste management or dam engineering
A strong background in geotechnical engineering, hydrology and dam safety as well as familiarity with tailings risk management practices, you may already have experience as lead designer, designer of record, or engineer of record
Capabability of leading multidisciplinary teams and managing complex projects
Excellent communication, leadership, mentoring, writing, interpersonal and presentation skills
Superior time management, planning and ability to interact with a wide range of stakeholders
Fluency in English is mandatory and proficiency in Swedish is a strong asset
A valid EU Category B driving license to travel to sites
The position can be based in Stockholm or any of our operational sites. Remote work arrangements may also be considered. Regular travel to Aitik will be naturally required, as well as occasional travel to other Boliden sites.
