What we offer
Connected Experience unit within R&D includes Connectivity and Car Cloud Platform, Infotainment Platform, Applications and Data & Diagnostics. Our vision and strategy are to maximize the attractiveness of owning and using a Volvo, make all cars connected and provide a continuously enhanced experience for both new and existing cars. The ART Connectivity Platform within the Department Connectivity is responsible for delivering Global Connectivity as a service - E2E including SW and Mobile Network Services. The platform we provide is the prerequisite for all connected applications and services within the vehicle.
What you'll do
Your purpose as a System Design and Analysis engineer, together with your colleagues in your agile team and the product owner, is to provide stepwise (business) value to the larger solutions/systems (via the Agile Release Train - ART). With main focus on system design and analysis you will make sure that our customers get the best possible system with regards to functionality and quality within the area Connectivity framework as Software download, Diagnostics, Power management and Cyber security. We also expect you to be on top of technology evolution and provide new ideas to continuously improve the product and our processes.
The product purpose is to enable connectivity for all cars delivered by Volvo Cars and Polestar. Your focus is on system design, analysis and fault tracing and making sure our customers get the best possible system with regards to functionality and quality within the connectivity area.
Daily you will be into for example:
• Requirements from our stakeholders in platform functions and align requirements with suppliers or development teams at Volvo. Support in function implementation and sign them off.
• Secure that required functional tests for platform requirements are implemented in the test automation environment and having a dialogue with the test automation team.
• Drive analysis and fault handling in development, manufacturing or aftermarkets related to the platform functions. Supporting teams doing the analysis to find the root cause by re-creating the issue and capture the faults in logs.
Implement corrections or align suggested corrections with suppliers.
Do you fit the profile?
For you to fully enjoy this opportunity, we believe that you are a result-oriented individual with problem solving focus and good ability to adapt too constant changes. Business acumen, integrity and courage are characteristics that describes you very well. You are self-driven individual, someone who is positive and analytical. You need to be able to present the results in a structured and understandable way and take the ownership for the product.
You embrace teamwork, collaboration and are eager to learn and develop new competences. Experience from working in the automotive or telecom industry is a clear advantage to succeed in this role.
We see that you have a BSc degree or higher in Software- or/and Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience. +5 years of system design, strong communication skills and EU driver license B.
In addition, you'll need experience and competence in the following areas;
• System design within large distributed systems
• Connectivity technologies 3G/LTE, WiFi, BLE, GNSS, Ethernet, CAN, USB
• Working with suppliers
Meritorious competence and experience:
• You have experience working with logger tools like Vector CANoe/Canalyzer or wireshark for logging of some/ip and CAN.
• You have experience of testing in system domains where different components/system are involved.
• You have ability to learn on how different functions work together to contribute with pro-posal for test scenarios to reflect real world use scenarios.
• You have experience in re-creating defects and analyze corresponding logs to ensure that issue was captured.
• You have knowledge in Cyber security
