The Engine Development department within Volvo CE is the centre for development of off-road engines and engine auxiliary components. We are responsible for the mechanical design, performance development and the auxiliary component development of the engines installed in our Construction Equipment, e.g. Articulated Haulers, Excavators, Wheel Loaders and Road & Utility Machinery.

Engine System Engineer

Position description
The Engine Performance department is responsible for the optimisation of the engine and its subsystems regarding performance, emissions, fuel consumption, drivability, diagnosis and communication. The team is involved in all performance related engineering work ranging from the initial engine and exhaust aftertreatment concept selection to integration of the engine EMS in the complete machine architecture. We are also responsible for all engine SW & Dataset deliveries within Advanced Engineering, New Products and Product Maintenance.

Our engines are used in many different applications such as Wheel loaders, Articulated Haulers and Excavators. They are also often used in extreme environments, for example hot/cold climate and high altitudes.

With the ambition to develop the best off road engines in the world we are now strengthening our team with one Engine System Engineer.

Engine System Engineer
As an Engine System Engineer within the Engine and Machine application team you will be working with the integration of the Engine Control units into Volvo CE's machine electronic architecture. The work is focused on CAN bus communication, SW requirements, SW verification and Electrical HW selection. The work is performed in engine test rigs, in machines as well as in Hardware / Software In the Loop (HIL/SIL) environment.

Education/Professional Qualifications required for the position
M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering or comparable knowledge

Important Additional Requirements
• Excellent knowledge of electrical HW
• Excellent knowledge of vehicle communication networks
• Experience of embedded systems
• High ability to plan and structure work
• Excellent spoken and written English
