An application engineer is working in the engineering department for Light and Medium duty engines (0 to 8 Liters) and exhaust aftertreatment systems. As an application engineer you optimize the SW and calibration controlling the engine and exhaust aftertreatment to meet legal demands, low fuel consumption and torque delivery within the limiting requirements. The application engineers use state of the art engine testcells, virtual engine models and machines to calibrate the engine SW. They also use premium computer programs to analyze data and create needed mathematical models.
You will be working in close cooperation with our colleagues within the Engine Systems, Product Platforms, Volvo Group and partners.

Main Tasks/ Responsibilities / Authorities:
Plan and prepare engine test cell activities
Execute planned tests in engine test cells, machines or in virtual environments
Analyze data
Deliver optimized engine calibration parameters
Solve quality issues in product maintenance
Develop new engine SW functions
Participate in Engine development projects

Qualifications:
M.Sc. in Internal Combustion engineering, Vehicle engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics or Mechanics
Knowledge of internal combustion engines and exhaust after treatment systems
Experience of Engine Development, HW & SW
Knowledge of engine emission legislation and the technical challenges they bring
Technical knowledge of Construction machines
Knowledge in Mathematics, Physics and Thermo dynamics
Good communication skills in English
Structured and analytical
