Electronics/Software Test Engineer - Chassis Electronics

Chassis Electronics Analysis and Verification is our section within the department Vehicle Dynamics and Active Safety Centre. We are responsible for analysis, verification and validation of system and software concerning Chassis Electronics. Using progressive technology and engineering, we are active and responsible during all stages of the product development process; ranging from the research phase through concept phase, industrialisation and post production quality support. Volvos vision is to develop cars in a more simulated and theoretical environment. To be able to create new test methods and test environments for the future, it puts demands on our creativity, drive, change willingness and courage.

As a Test Engineer in Chassis Electronics, you are responsible for verification of software systems and functions within braking, steering and active damping. Most testing will be performed within a lab environment such as test benches, boxcars or using Hardware in the Loop (HIL). However, some testing will be carried out using a complete vehicle which is why a driver's license (B-level) is an absolute necessity. The everyday work is carried out in collaboration with various design departments as well as suppliers which is why good communications skills in a fast moving and international environment are a must.

Main responsibilities

• Testing and reporting to the project organisation
• Development of new test methods and virtual test environments linked to requirements
• Evaluation and distribution of requirements
• Reviewing and following up on suppliers concerning their test methods as well as test results

Required qualifications

• University degree (MSc) in electronics, software, mechatronics or similar
• Experience from and skills within: Canalyser/CANoe, MATLAB, Simulink, C-programming
• General vehicle knowledge and interest
• Fluent in English (written and spoken)
• Driver's licence (B-level)
• Experience from automated testing is meritorious
• Knowledge of development processes regarding software testing/electrical development is meritorious
• Product/process/function development experience within the automotive industry is meritorious
