In this role you will be part of Technology & Solutions Development, within the Power Grids division, in Ludvika. The MACH Control & Protection Platform R&D department is a part of ABB Technology & Solutions Development and is responsible for the development of state-of-the-art control system platform for HVDC and FACTS applications. The MACH C&P department in Ludvika has around 70 employees, focusing mainly on Hardware and Software design working in close collaboration with the global MACH C&P organization. The HVDC technology has been on the market for the past 60 years and is used, among other things, to transmit power over long distances with minimal losses, using overhead lines, underground and submarine cable systems. Your responsibilities
Being responsible for our labs and equipment used for the design and verification of MACH products.
Assembling/disassembling prototypes units including PCBAs and mechanical parts
Performing soldering/reworking on PCBAs with both TH and SMD technologies down to 0402
Designing and implementing basic test setups, preparing test cables
Continuously maintaining all the labs and cabinets in a neat, clean and tidy manner
Tracking the status of inventory and following calibration status
Assisting design/verification engineers with prototype testing, including running lab tests with assistance of an engineer, taking notes, documenting results, etc
Taking other duties as assigned

Your background
You should have a high school diploma, plus additional technical school or equivalent on the job experience.
Spoken and written language skills in English are mandatory, fluency in Swedish is considered an advantage, but not a demand.
5+ years of hands-on experience in electronics lab work
Ability to understand drawings, schematic and wiring diagrams
Knowledge on electronic components, packages and PCB land patterns
Good hand coordination skills for precision soldering and assembly
Ability to use/to learn rework of BGA/LGA components with soldering station
Experience with lab equipment like environmental chambers, power supplies, multimeters, oscilloscopes, signal generators, etc
Proficiency on general use hand tools
Experience on office tools (MS word, excel, visio, etc.)
Familiarity with PCB and PCBA manufacturing
Positive attitude, willing to help team members and others
Proactive approach on work tasks and ability to work without direct supervision with area/function responsibility
Regular and planned working, coordination, reporting and documentation skills
Ability to clearly communicate both technical and non-technical matters
Ability to travel both domestic and international
Having one of the IPC 7711/7721, IPC J-STD-001, IPC/WHMA-A-620, IPC-A-610 certificates is a plus
Experience in High Voltage work or testing is a plus
