Some of the things you'll do
Founded in 2017 and based on research from Uppsala University's Ångström Laboratory, Altris is a global leader in Sodium-Ion technology. We manufacture and sell Fennac cathode active material while licensing battery designs for energy storage and transport applications. Our batteries offer lower energy density than Lithium-Ion but excel in longevity, charge/discharge speed, safety, operating temperature range, and cost efficiency.
In 2024, Altris secured investment from Clarios, a global leader in advanced battery solutions, marking a significant step in our rapid growth and innovation. As we scale up our sodium-ion battery technology, we are seeking an Electrolyte Engineer to join our Cell Development team. This key role involves designing, testing, and optimizing electrolyte formulations to enhance battery performance, safety, and durability while collaborating with cross-functional teams to advance Altris' cell technology.
Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to)
Develop and optimize advanced electrolyte formulations to enhance battery cell performance.
Take a hands-on approach to prepare test samples, perform electrochemical testing, and conduct physical and chemical analysis of electrolytes and their components to evaluate performance, properties, compatibility, and interactions within the battery cell.
Utilize scripting tools to process experimental data, extract meaningful insight, and compile actionable reports.
Serve as the primary point of contact for electrolyte-related matters, ensuring clear communication and alignment with internal and external stakeholders.
Maintain strict adherence to safety standards, ensuring the proper handling of chemicals and fostering a safety-first culture.
Engage with cross-functional teams, e.g. production & quality teams, to align electrolyte advancements with overall manufacturing goals. You will most likely work closely with QC team as well.

What Were looking for
A minimum of a master's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field is required.
Proven experience in the development, testing, and characterization of electrolytes, preferably within the context of sodium-ion or lithium-ion battery technology.
Familiarity with manufacturing processes for battery cells, whether in research, pilot, or production environments.
Solid expertise in electrolytes, their composition and an understanding of how the physical and chemical properties of their components impact battery cell behavior.
Experience with electrochemical testing techniques, including evaluating electrolyte performance and diagnosing material compatibility.
Hands-on laboratory experience in electrolyte preparation, testing, and characterization, with a proven track record of developing and optimizing formulations.
Data analysis proficiency, particularly in processing and extracting meaningful insights from experimental data using tools like Python or similar scripting software.
Strong communication skills, able to convey technical information clearly to cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and other departments.
Familiarity with industry safety protocols, especially for chemical handling and laboratory work, ensuring adherence to best practices in all tasks.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, maintaining effective communication within a multidisciplinary environment.

What you will get
We can promise you that you will be challenged, develop your skills and have the opportunity to work with truly amazing and competent colleagues. If you like changes and want to set new processes and ways of working - this is the place for you!
Diversity and inclusion are very important to us and we are committed to creating an inclusive work environment.
