The Spare parts team, within Electrolux IT, provides support, maintenance and development of the REX application for Electrolux in Europe. The application is supporting the Spares Processes for some 50 Sales companies and 7 Warehouses in Europe, both for Household- and Professional products. The team currently consists of 8 persons located in Torsvik/Jönköping, Sweden.
The tasks for this role as Application Engineer involves gathering and analyzing business needs, providing specification and documentation for a solution, as well as development, testing and implementation of the required function. The extent of these requirements can be of moderate to difficult complexity. The support, maintenance and monitoring of the application and its environments and communication with other applications, are also important tasks for the role. On-call duty on a rolling timetable is part of the assignment.
Key operational responsibilities:
Create program specifications and develop solid solutions, based on business requirements (global or local), in a manner consistent with efficient utilization of available computer environment, following departmental standards and conventions.
Prepare and conduct program tests, correct possible failures in program logic, to ensure function results complies with requirement-/program specifications. Support user acceptance test and verify test results.
Implement application changes and new software versions, as well as setting up new environments, following departmental version control standards.
Assure coding, testing, and implementation of required solutions are in accordance with the group control tools.
Provide and maintain user-, system- and operating documentation.
Support application users in their day-to-day operation in a swift and efficient manner, to minimize any inconvenience caused by program failure or misuse.
Competencies needed:
Deep knowledge of RPG/400 (incl. ILE/RPG), with at least 5-6 years experience of developing, implementing and supporting IT solutions in an international, multi-cultural environment is essential, as well as knowledge of the AS/400 environment itself and its associated software such as CL, SQL, Query and the DB2/400 database.
Experience of the REX application itself or the Spare parts Process within any Business Sector and good knowledge about the IT environment used by Electrolux is an advantage, as well as knowledge of J2EE and Websphere.
