hela Sverige Northvolt is hiring an experienced electrical prototyping engineer to support our testing department. We are looking for candidates that are hands-on, self-starters, and excellent problem-solvers. By joining us you will play an important part in the transformation to a carbon-free society.
We are looking for someone who has extensive experience working with electrical cabinets and control systems. The main duties include designing and building test cabinets/rigs/fixtures, assembling custom cables as needed, and supporting our test engineers with their setups. We work with everything from communications cabling to high power cables/bus bars (up to 1500V, up to 500A).
You need to be a highly organized person that can work efficiently and effectively. At Northvolt we work closely with a low level of hierarchy, and we encourage different backgrounds and levels of experience. Day-to-day tasks for this role:
- Designing and building electrical equipment for our battery trials and tests, including electrical cabinets, test rigs and cable harnesses
- Assisting in the preparation and execution of tests (electrical, mechanical, thermal, etc.)
- Installing and troubleshooting sensors such as thermocouples, thermistors, accelerometers, strain gauges, etc...
- Keeping the lab organized and stocked for efficient prototyping
- Working at 3rd party locations, such as suppliers, customers or test facilities, to help set up and perform tests
Skills and Requirements:
- 4+ years experience as an industrial electrician, or similar
- Open to travel, sometimes at short notice, mostly between Västerås and Stockholm, but also to other test facilities in Sweden/Europe
- CAD experience is a plus
- High voltage training is a plus
Soft Skills:
- Effective communication skills, with professional competency in English, both written and oral
- Ability to work safely and independently under time pressure
- Resourceful, safety-minded person with strong initiative
