The group Safety Sensing currently consists of 18 people who are responsible for all sensor electronics hardware within safety as well as the integrated sensor platforms of the future. Since sensor electronics and control units are important parts of the active safety systems, we need to strengthen the group with an additional electronic hardware design engineer
Each electronic system in our cars has a responsible engineer for the electronic hardware that keeps the development process of the components together, from concept to finished products, and this is something that appeals to you. You as a hardware design engineer, plan the component development timeline and manage any discrepancies towards the supplier in your weekly meetings. Reporting of the progress is made to your team leader on joint project meetings and when challenges arise, you all work as a team to solve them together.
Main tasks:
Generate specifications for your electronic modules based on global standards settings from property descriptions, functional-, and system-level requirements.
Reviewing suppliers' designs, technical documentation and test plans as well as follow-up on agreed deliveries.
Run weekly technical meetings with suppliers for your component.
Manage and communicate time plans for the components that are being developed.
You will have close contact with the department's other hardware engineers through our hardware engineer network where a dialogue is held on common issues and where problems can be raised for joint reviews and analysis. Thereby you build up your network of contacts and gain experience of Volvo's development process and project work.
As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will get a creative job with possibilities both to influence as well as to take the responsibility for what our customers experience as a safe, environmentally friendly and modern car that understands the customers' needs and meet their expectations.
Qualifications:
Master, bachelor or university degree in electronics or equivalent.
Good knowledge in Swedish and English, both written and spoken.
Openness, good ability to co-operate and to organise and plan your work.
Documented experience of electronic component development in the automotive industry and in electronics development.
Experience of mechanical development and in integration of cars regarding electronic hardware.
At least two years documented experience in design work within the field of radar and/or vision systems and automotive.
Driver's license (category B), since it is an advantage to be able to evaluate developing solutions in the car.
It is an advantage if you have:
Experience of working with system safety, preferably according to ISO 26262.
Knowledge of AUTOSAR and of Volvo Cars' development processes.
Experience of working in requirement setting tools, preferably System Weaver or Elektra.
