Master Thesis Proposal
Verisure Securitas Direct is the leading home alarm supplier in Europe with over 2 million customers. Every year Verisure large quantities of primary batteries for new installations and for replacements in current installations. Verisure is working actively to reduce the number of batteries in the portfolio.
The Verisure alarm nodes are wireless, communicating over a proprietary RF protocol with focus on high security and low power consumption. The position will be located at our R&D Center in Malmö, Sweden. Our bright and open office space is just a 5 minute walk from the Central Station.
Main Responsibilities
The thesis will investigate the following
- Available energy: How much available light is there in a typical house?
- Energy collector: How does different solar cells compare to each other in efficiency and price
- Power electronics: How much electronics such as BUCK/BOOST converters is needed to make the energy storage efficient enough? What are the tradeoffs in cost?
- Storage device: What types of storage are available? Compare options with regards to energy, power deliver capabilities and life time
The thesis should produce a working prototype of a Verisure node fully or partially powered by solar cells.

- Master student in Electrical Engineering
- Available on location for a full semester
