European Spallation Source (ESS) in Lund, Sweden, invites applications for an Electrical Engineer - Instrumentation & Control for the Target station systems.

The ESS Target Division is part of the ESS Machine Directorate with the responsibility to design, develop, procure, install, test and commission the systems needed to convert the energetic proton beam coming from the ESS accelerator to neutron beams that are utilized for experiments.

Description of main responsibilities

• Assess, define and select instrumentation and electrical requirements for systems, including system monitoring for control and operations. This may include the selection of instrumentation and equipment for protection and personnel safety systems.
• Execute the design and implementation of solutions to meet the requirements and provide electrical engineering support to system owners during design and implementation phases.
• Develop electrical and instrumentation documentation for systems including schematics, requirement descriptions, electrical design drawings, and interface descriptions.
• Assist in communication of electrical and instrumentation requirements between different stakeholders within ESS and provide expertise internally and to external collaborators.
• Participate in design reviews and HAZOPs for systems and interfacing systems.
• Ensure through support and review that ESS guidelines, electrical and instrumentation standards, quality procedures, and configuration management processes are applied.
• Assist with planning and preparation of installation activities.
• Develop specifications and plans for test and commissioning activities, including also FAT, SAT and installation testing.
• Execute hands-on testing and calibration of instrumentation and electrical components during commissioning.
• Establish instrumentation maintenance requirements and maintenance plans including restrictions imposed by safety and environmental regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor in electrical engineering (Masters degree considered beneficial) or an equivalent combination of education and experience in design and development of control systems (instrumentation and electrical systems) in industrial solutions.
• Experience in field instrumentation, electrical design, and operation of complex automated industrial process systems.
• Experience in installation and commissioning of industrial process systems.
• Experience in coordinating work within several groups.
• Able to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, layouts, and specifications
• Good oral and written English skills are a prerequisite

Duration & Location
The position is permanent with six months initial probationary period. Your work place will be situated in Lund, Sweden. The position is to be filled as soon as possible.
