Here you have the opportunity to develop within the organisation and work on a variety of topics and tasks. At Boliden there is always scope for participation and influence, something we believe gives each and every employee impetus.
The work culture here at Boliden Mines' Work Environment department is both open and democratic. Employees with the department are enthusiastic and committed to their work. We trust our employees and therefore regard "freedom with responsibility" as a way of creating a rewarding workplace. Boliden works actively with and maintains high environmental, health, safety and quality standards, and we are now looking for someone to engage in EHS work, i.e. health, safety and the environment.
Duties
You will be joining the team at the work environment department, which currently consists of 8 people in Sweden. The role of EHS coordinator is very varied, and your primary task will be to cooperate with and support the exploration department. The exploration department serves all six mining areas, three of which are located outside Sweden. In your role as EHS coordinator, you will have overall responsibility for supporting the managers for exploration in their safety and environmental work. You will also be expected to take a proactive approach to improving procedures concerning EHS issues. An important task is to contribute to the development of our safety culture, systematic work environment management and environment work. Your role also includes planning and conducting risk analyses and inspections. You will have contact with the authorities and trade organisations on relevant EHS issues. Each mining area has its own EHS organisation, which will be an important part of your contact network.
Education/Experience
You are a work environment engineer or have a university/college education in a relevant field. As you will be an EHS expert, it is vital that you have thorough knowledge of the appropriate legislation. Experience of practical work on EHS issues within exploration or the mining industry would be an advantage. Since we also have operations in Ireland and Finland, we would like you to be able to express yourself in both Swedish and English. Any knowledge of Finnish would be considered an advantage. You will have broad knowledge of the Office package. Since your work will involve travel, a category B driving licence is a requirement.
Personal qualities
We place great emphasis on personal suitability. We expect you to have a strong sense of responsibility and expertise in the environment and health and safety field. You will have a keen interest in the area and must be willing to get involved in driving Boliden's safety work forward. As this role is very varied, we would like you to be comfortable working both in the office, writing reports, and out in the mines, as well as outdoors where exploration takes place. You will also be independent and resourceful - a "doer" who is not afraid to ask questions. The role will provide you with a large contact network both internally and externally, so it is important that you are communicative and a team player. Of course, you will be expected to act as a representative of Boliden's safety culture.
