Key performance areas
As an EHS Compliance Specialist, you will work globally with EHS issues in the Sandvik Tooling business area and be the department's expert on EHS law (primarily in EU legislation) and classification issues concerning, among others, raw materials. You will work proactively with EHS legislation, such as REACH and CLP, as well as other EU legislation and international requirements in the EHS area. You will be responsible for determining how the company is impacted and for developing and updating internal policies and guidelines, as well as providing support for Tooling's entities with respect to EHS legislation.
Your duties will include:
• Classification of and providing safety data sheets for chemical products placed on the market by Tooling companies.
• Being responsible for waste handling issues, including transfrontier shipments of waste and support for the recycling project. This includes assistance with permit applications and development of policy and guidelines, as well as monitoring of legislation in these areas
• Being active in national and international industry associations, such as ITIA, CDI and Teknikföretagen, and participating in their committees and working groups
In the beginning, you will shadow the department's expert who currently works with these issues, and then successively take on greater responsibility and additional duties.
You will report to the EHS and Risk Manager, Sandvik Tooling.
Your profile
To be successful in this position you need a university degree in a scientific or technical field and at least five years' experience of working with environmental and safety issues. Good knowledge of national and international EHS legislation, particularly in the area of chemicals, is a prerequisite for the position, as is very good knowledge of Swedish and English, both written and spoken. Knowledge of other languages is advantageous. You must also be well versed in all of the programs in the MS Office suite, and good knowledge of international law concerning waste handling and product related issues is also advantageous.
You must be very interested in keeping up-to-date in the field and very willing to share your knowledge with colleagues. You enjoy working proactively, finding solutions and then applying them to the business. You work independently and take the initiative, with the ability to structure and take responsibility for your work, instigate and manage processes and achieve results. You plan, organize and prioritize your work in an efficient manner in order to achieve goals and meet deadlines.
