Work description
We are searching for an Editor/Information Assistant for our client, the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) in Solna.
Task:
The person shall be requested to perform various tasks including:
• Support development of ECDC's journal (Eurosurveillance)
• Liaise with authors and peer-reviews to facilitate publication
• Monitor the article submissions in the electronic submission system (database)
• Copy editing and proof reading, checking style and grammar of submitted articles
• Work with internal units and stakeholders in ECDC to identify and analyse their external communication needs
• Plan and carry out external communication activities (ECDC portal, social media channels)
• Edit and write web articles, social media posts and other content in close cooperation with authors and medical experts
• Edit submitted articles and work closely with authors and peers-reviewers to facilitate a rapid publication of high-quality articles
• Contribute to the promotional activities of the pub
You will get an employment as a consultant with Manpower. The assignment is to start in the beginning of December and until the end of Mars with possible extension up to the total length of 12 months. The role is for full-time.
Competences and experience
• University education
• Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office tools
• Excellence knowledge of English at the level of a native speaker
• Experience in editing and writing texts in English, preferable experience in working with scientific texts
• Experience with web publishing tools
• Very good communication skills
• Very good organisational skills; a planned approach to task and ability to prioritize
• Excellent team worker
• Ability to work under pressure
• Proof-reading skills
• Excellent English language skills
• Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines
• Advantageous: experience of having worked as editor, publication assistant or proof reader for a (scientific) journal or publisher. Experience in XML workflows
