Platform Development is a function within Global Product Development (GPD) at Volvo Buses which is responsible for platform development, architecture, project management and test. The Electrical & Electronics Development (EED) department has the mission to develop, test and verify the electrical system through concept phases up to serial production and maintenance while optimising demands on quality, deliveries, cost and features (QDCF).

We are now looking for a ECU Node Owner to our Embedded Control Systems team

The Embedded Control Systems team is responsible for the coordination and introduction of new software (SW) and/or hardware (HW) in Volvo system structures for chassis Electronic Control Units (ECUs).
As ECU Node Owner you will have the opportunity to work in a rapidly changing environment and take part in the development of Volvo Buses future vehicles within the department in Gothenburg as well as at our application sites around the world. You will play an important role in the development of new SW/HW for a number of chassis ECUs. The role requires frequent communication with external suppliers regarding SW specifications, functionality and diagnostics. Depending on the current project portfolio and project phases, the focus for your work will vary.

To be successful in this job you should have knowledge from working with distributed electrical systems, have experience from working with Product Data Management systems (preferably KOLA) and be experienced in working with external SW-suppliers.
You should be able to take own initiatives and be skilled in working cross functionally. You should have a solution oriented mindset, take pride in your own and the team's deliveries and have a strong customer focus.
Since we are continuously working with improving our efficiency and find opportunities in the daily work, you are expected to take an active part in our improvement work with methods and processes.

Main Responsibilities
• Participate in development of HW and SW with supplier
• Translate Functional Description from Electrical Architect into Technical Regulation (TR) for HW, and SWRS (SW Requirement Specification) for SW
• Coordinate and introduce new SW/HW in Volvo system structures for each node respectively:
• Monitor planned changes. Example: New HW, adapting to changed functionality. (Initiated by Volvo Buses or supplier)
• Secure that minimum requirements on the ECU are fulfilled
• Perform Release Verification before release of SW or release of structure
• Release Design Change Notifications (DCN's), including update of the Configurator system
• Set a working method for the ECU to match the defined development process within Volvo Buses and adapt the process towards the suppliers
• Support Start Projects/PMRs/QJs by answering questions regarding each node respectively
• Support Start Projects/PMRs/QJs with time and cost estimation if the ECU is affected
• Resolve quality issues in projects or in factor for each node respectively
• Act as contact person for suppliers (HW and SW):
• Specifications
• Support commonality of HW and SW within Volvo Buses and with Group Trucks Technology (GTT)
• Support purchasing
• Validation if supplier makes new software not initiated by Volvo Buses
• General support for each node respectively (Global Manufacturing, Prototype Workshop, etc.)
• Provide ECU information to all internal stakeholders
• Work with maintenance and quality items related to a system

Profile
• Ability to work cross functionally with an inclusive mindset

• Knowledge from working with distributed electrical systems
• Master of Science, or Bachelor of Science in electrics or electronics, or equivalent experience
• Preferably knowledge from working with CAN and LIN communication
• Preferably knowledge in programming
• Preferably experienced in interpreting wiring schematics and electrical function specifications (SW and HW)
• Preferably knowledge of Volvo Group processes and tools such as KOLA,SW-Configurator, CANalyzer, TSP, Protus, Engineering Tool
• Fluent in English, both spoken and written
• High level of computer skills
• Experience from SW-development in the automotive industry is a merit
