Avalanche Studios is looking for an Economist Designer to work on our unannounced open world / sandbox multiplayer game. We have a long history of creating some of the most immersive, playful and procedural game worlds in the industry such as Mad Max, Just Cause 4 and Rage 2.

The Position
During development you will be a critical contributor and work closely with product leads and designers to build and review the in-game economy and its relationship to real money transactions for our most ambitious economic system to date. As the game launches you will transition into the live ops efforts continuously monitoring and balancing the economy you helped build. The role of Economy Designer is part of our Live Ops and Releases team located in our Stockholm office.

Review and contribute to the underlying design for the game with particular focus on the economy and how it affects real money transactions
Design simulations to model and balance the game economy, player behavior and potential exploits.
Provide insight into short- and long term behavioral patterns of, players, and participants in virtual economies via telemetry
Provide knowledge of real world economics, statistics, and data mining methods to derive insights
Analyze complex data sets, characterize different users and create player incentives while considering product, marketing and analytical effects.
Optimize the performance of meta-features through tuning and A/B testing
Collaborates well, in a cross-discipline, multi-studio environment
Proficient oral and written communication skills.

Required Qualifications
BA/BS in a related field; or equivalent work experience
3+ years professional experience in either a design, economist, or analytics role
Expertise with data visualization and prognosis software such as Tableau or Excel

Beneficial Qualifications
Has worked cross-discipline with different teams
Proficiency programming in SQL
Familiarity with relational database architecture or other modern data architectures
Passion for games and a deep empathy for users
Comfortable walking the line between data and intuition; able to make good decisions with less than perfect data
