Sveriges Riksbank, located in Stockholm, is the central bank of Sweden. The Riksbank's main tasks are to maintain price stability and to promote a safe and efficient payment system in Sweden. The Riksbank's main instrument for implementing monetary policy is the repo rate. As part of its financial stability policy, the bank makes regular assessments of risk levels at major Swedish commercial banks and in the financial infrastructure.
The Research Division is seeking to hire one full-time research economist, who conducts research in macroeconomics and monetary policy. The division organizes academic conferences, hosts an international seminar series, and has an active visitors program. Some staff members also teach part-time at universities.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Suitable candidates will have acquired expertise in doing theoretical or empirical research on monetary economics and open economy macroeconomics. You have a solid research background in your field. You need to have obtained a PhD in economics or finance, or be close to doing so.
You are expected to produce high-quality research for publication in peer-reviewed journals and to provide policy support to the Monetary Policy Department. Accordingly, an ability to present complex issues effectively and to communicate research results and analytical findings to policymakers is important. The average distribution between research and policy work is 80/20.
The working languages at the Research Division are English and Swedish. Proficiency in Swedish is not required.
