What's in it for you?
We are now looking for a Driver Understanding Analyst with a genuine interest in traffic safety, data analysis and cognitive science to join our Safety Centre at Volvo Cars Headquarters in Gothenburg, Sweden.

At Volvo Cars Safety Centre, 190 highly skilled professionals strive every day to make the world a safer place for car drivers and everyone else on the road. We are proud of our track record including numerous world's firsts, all based on real world research and knowledge: exemplified by the safety belt (1959), SIPS (1991), WHIPS (1998), City Safety (2008), Pedestrian Detection with Full Auto brake (2010), and Run off Road protection (2015).

The future challenges and opportunities are exciting and through advanced technology and research we are developing safety with regard to injury prevention and collision avoidance, in addition to areas like Autonomous Drive, HMI, emotional safety and driver behavior - all based on real life situations.

The groups at Volvo Cars Safety Centre working with collision avoidance analysis creates knowledge used to develop safety strategies and requirements to make future Volvo passenger cars even safer.

What you'll do
You will do research of the driver's behavior and analyze data from experiments or from normal driving in different traffic situations. The driver's interaction with the car and environment plays an important role in your work and the studies are carried out in cars on a test track, in real life traffic or in simulators. You will work closely together with colleagues in the Behavior development team with method development and planning, as well as conduct studies where often different levels of driver support systems are engaged and analyze the data.

You will be involved in the complete research process, from planning and preparing data collection based on the research questions, to performing in-depth analysis of the collected data, to finally demonstrating your findings as well as contributing to the writing of research papers.

As a part of the Behavior team, you will also give recommendations, design guidelines and write requirements based on results from analyzed data and contribute with insights from your research to the product development.

You and your skills
We believe you have a master's level degree in cognitive/behavioral science and solid experience from user studies as well as good skills within programming (e.g., Python) and be comfortable using analysis tools such as Matlab. Experience in physical testing of active safety functions, logging of data and experience from working with eye tracking systems and analyzing of eye tracking data are also meritorious. You need to have a Swedish driver's license (B) and be comfortable using English in your daily work.

On a personal level, you are a practical, theoretical, and analytical person. You need to be accurate, communicative and have a good ability to present results and conclusions in both writing and speech. Finally, you share our genuine interest in traffic safety and cognitive science.
