Description

A strong research environment within the discipline of Business Administration focuses on transformations in public sector organisations. This doctoral position will be located within the Academy of Public Administration, which is a multidisciplinary research centre. Examples of current research themes at this centre are: public organisation and leadership; governing and decision-making; administrative reforms; and accounting and auditing processes. The focus is on administrative reforms in general, as well as transformations in specific fields.

The research must be relevant for the Baltic Sea region or Eastern Europe since the position is connected to the Baltic and Eastern European Graduate School, BEEGS

The position involves both admission to third-cycle education (that is, at doctoral level) and employment on a doctoral studentship. The intended outcome for students admitted to third-cycle education is a PhD. The programme covers 240 credits, which is the equivalent of four years of full-time study. A doctoral student's working hours should primarily be dedicated to his/her third-cycle studies.

Entry requirements and selection

The general entry requirements are one of the following:

1. a second-cycle/master level qualification,

2. fulfilment of the requirements for courses comprising at least 240 credits of which at least 60 credits awarded at second-cycle/master level, or

3. the acquisition of substantially equivalent knowledge in some other way in Sweden or abroad.

Specific entry requirements

A qualified applicant has the equivalent of 90 credits in Business Administration and has successfully completed second-cycle studies in business administration, or who has attained the same qualifications outside of Sweden or by previously taking some equivalent degree. Applicants with a degree in Public Administration are also qualified for this position. Under special circumstances, the faculty board may exempt an applicant from fulfilling special qualification requirements.

Employment

An application for admission to third-cycle studies is also an application for employment on a doctoral studentship. The employment is for no longer than the equivalent to a maximum of four years full time studies. Doctoral students will have the opportunity to be engaged in teaching and/or administrative tasks at the institution. These tasks may be equivalent to no more than 20 % of full-time and, in such cases, the length of the doctoral studies will be extended accordingly.
