Recent growth in the research activities and the well-established educational programs of the School of Information Technology (ITE) is enabling a significant expansion.
In 2018 the total research expenditures exceeded 70 MSEK and the school hosted over 850 students. Over the next two years, the School will grow significantly.
The KKS SafeSmart Synergy project - Safety of Connected Intelligent Vehicles in Smart Cities - aims at developing technical advances enabling automated driving in challenging urban scenarios. The advertised Ph.D. project is concerned with software testing and integration, where the different components (communication, localization, control) have to be validated and integrated into a safely functioning system with autonomous functions. To this end, Model-Based Testing (MBT) is to be applied to enable efficient testing of components in such a system at different stages if the life-cycle: development, integration, deployment, and also run-time. One of the main challenges is the unification of modelling and testing methods towards this hybrid scenario.
Description
The employment as doctoral student involves individual research studies (80%) and additional institutional duties or teaching within the subject field (20 %). Qualifications
The suitable candidate has a Masters degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or closely related fields. Students expecting to finalize their degree during the spring 2019 are also welcome to apply. An ideal candidate would have expertise in formal methods, testing, software engineering, programming, and embedded systems.
Only persons who are being admitted, or already have been admitted, to doctoral studies at an institution of higher education may be appointed doctoral students. (The Higher Education Ordinance Chapter 5, § 3). The student's ability to benefit from doctoral studies will be taken into account when we make the appointment. Salary
Doctoral students are employees of the University and paid a salary according to a uniform salary scale, adjusted in relation to the progress in education.
The position includes studies up to a doctoral degree and is annually extended in accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance Chapter 5, §7. The total employment period is four years but may be extended to a maximum of five years if the student performs 20% teaching or other tasks within the university.
