iCircular3 is a Horizon Europe Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions Doctoral Network project on intelligent circular lifecycles of industrial robots, outdoor power products, and electric vehicles. The doctoral candidate appointed at JTH will be responsible for a work package titled 'Reverse logistics network design decision support system for end-of-life management of outdoor power products'. The objective is to model reverse logistics activities to get end-of-life outdoor power products and parts back to the manufacturing stage, in a sustainable and streamlined manner.
Working tasks
As a doctoral student your key responsibilities will be to manage and carry out research projects within 36 months and write a PhD thesis. You will participate in research and training activities within the iCircular3 network and disseminate research in the scientific community (international conferences) and non-scientific community, by outreach and public engagement.
Furthermore, you will write articles for scientific peer reviewed journals as well as progress reports and prepare results for publication and dissemination via public lectures, presentations, and the web.
You will also have a responsibility to take courses in accordance with the research education subject area syllabus and liaise with the other research staff, students and partner institutions working in broad areas of relevance to the research project.
Participation in other department duties, such as meetings, teaching etc. is expected to cover a maximum scope of 20%.
Your profile
To be eligible for the position you must hold a master's degree in Industrial Engineering or equivalent. It is also a requirement that you exhibit interest and ability in specific topics such as Circular Economy, Logistics, and Supply Chain and Operations Management.
You are required to have exceptional inter-personal and communication skills, and it is positive if you have knowledge of the Swedish language.
You should be able to display a strong aptitude and enthusiasm for Engineering Research at postgraduate level.
Prior work- and/or teaching experience in relevant areas is considered a merit.
You should not have already obtained a doctoral degree at the date of the recruitment. Applicants who have successfully defended their doctoral thesis but who have not yet formally been awarded the doctoral degree will not be considered eligible.

Information
The position is limited in accordance with the applicable collective agreement for doctoral students. The total scope is 100% during a period of three (3) years, starting June 2023, or as agreed upon.
