hela Sverige The Swedish School of Textiles is a centre for the textile and fashion sector's competence development through education at the undergraduate and Master's levels, as well as at the doctoral level within artistic fashion and textile design. It also has a leading role related to textiles and design in technology, economics and management, and when it comes to research activities and close collaboration with industry. The Swedish School of Textiles conducts extensive research regarding textile materials technology, polymeric textile fibres, textile-reinforced composites, smart textiles, textile management and in the textile design area.
The Department of Design currently has an opening for a doctoral student specialising in Fashion Design.
Job description
The doctoral studentship employment focusses 80% of the time on doctoral studies and thesis work. The remaining time is set aside for departmental service including teaching, research, development work and administration.
Doctoral students are employed according to the Higher Education Ordinance Chapter 5. The study period corresponds to a maximum of four years of full-time study. The first employment period covers one year and is normally renewed by one year at a time. If departmental duties are included, the doctoral education period is extended to a maximum of five years.
Qualifications
For the employment, the applicant must have a Master's degree in fashion design or equivalent and good knowledge of English, both spoken and written.
In order to be admitted to doctoral studies, applicants must also have the prerequisites, and interest to participate in the development of the artistic research environment at the University of Borås, which includes, among other things, that supervision is provided within the framework of one of the two overall research programmes that the environment is based on: Body Dress Space and Smart Textiles Design.
Employment takes place on the condition that the applicant fulfils the requirements and is accepted as doctoral student. Admission takes place at the University of Borås.

Selection
Portfolio, written motivation, and interview for the highest ranked applicants are used as a basis for assessing the applicants' prerequisites to successfully undergo artistic research education.
