Job description
The overall aim of our research is to characterise how biomaterials perform in a biological system, with focus on the intravascular instant immune activation and thrombotic response (i.e. thromboinflammation). A biomaterial is per definition a material introduced to a biological system as a treatment with the aim of maintaining or improving a biological function. Examples of biomaterials are implants, extracorporeal circulation and nanoparticle drug delivery systems. Treatment using biomaterials can be associated with adverse effects. Central components in the acute intravascular reactions are the complement and coagulation cascades, in interplay with blood cells and the endothelium. Please read more about the job description at:

Applicants fulfil the general entry requirements if they
• Have been awarded a degree on second-cycle level in biology or medicine, and have knowledge of molecular and cellular biology, and practical experience of work with relevant molecular and cellular techniques.
• Have satisfied the requirements for courses comprising at least 240 credits, of which 60 credits on second-cycle level, or in other way, in Sweden or abroad, have acquired principally equivalent knowledge.
Specific requirements
• Applicants should have a good command of English and a keen interest in inflammatory research.
Assessment grounds
• Experience of cell culture techniques, animal experiments and other relevant molecular and cellular techniques is advantageous. Knowledge of biomaterial chemistry will also be beneficial.
• Importance will be attached to compatibility of the applicant's professional and personal disposition. We aim to find a candidate who is highly motivated, ambitious, collaborative, independent and structured.
Evaluation and selection criteria
The selection of candidates is made with regard to the applicants' ability to successfully complete and benefit from their studies at the graduate level.
