We are looking for an experienced, dynamic, hands-on director, who can motivate, support and lead staff and volunteers at Yeshin Norbu.
Yeshin Norbu is a nonprofit organisation offering courses within the fields of secular mindfulness and compassion, body awareness, and Tibetan Buddhism. The organisation was founded in 2017 and is affiliated with the Foundation for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition (FPMT), an international organization with 165 centres and projects in 40 countries.
Since 2021, Yeshin Norbu is implementing a three-year pilot project to implement the SEE Learning curriculum in Swedish Schools. SEE Learning provides educators with the tools they need to foster the development of emotional, social, and ethical intelligence for students and themselves. This project is fully financed by Allmänna Arvsfonden, currently employs eight people and is expected to run to at least 2024.
Core responsibilities of the director are determined by the current needs of the organization and include but are not limited to:
Strategic decision making to stalk out the most suitable route ahead and ensure that all activities progress according to plan.
Ensure that Yeshin Norbu has the professional skills needed to meet our vision and serve our purpose, including management and care of staff, volunteers, and teacher/s.
Safeguard the financial health of the organization, including budgeting, fundraising, grant applications, as well as fostering, building and maintaining relationships with donors and our supporting community.
Liaise and build/upkeep relations with authorities, banks, funders, FPMT European and International Offices and the wider Buddhist community in Sweden and beyond.
Ensure that all operations are in line with relevant Swedish/European law, donor requirements, as well as FPMT policies and guidelines, including but not limited to their ethical and safeguarding policies.
Maintaining the greatest possible harmony within the team through leading by example and communicating clearly.
Empower members of the community to take an active role in operations of Yeshin Norbu as well as foster space for more mindfulness, compassion and kindness to spread in the Swedish society and beyond
Represent Yeshin Norbu at key marketing events, donor meetings, community gatherings, and FPMT national and international meetings.
Manage and support the Program Coordinator and the Resident Teacher in creating a robust calendar of teachings, meditation, and retreats in line with FPMT standard education programs and secular mindfulness and compassion programs.
Manage and support the project team/s to ensure that all projects progress according to plan and bring as beneficial results as possible.

Selection Criteria:
Proven inclusive leadership and excellent, intelligent, mindful and compassionate people management skills.
Familiarity or previous experience of working with the FPMT, as well as sincere respect for its values, principles and Spiritual Director, Lama Zopa Rinpoche, is considered a huge plus.
Enthusiasm to offer service to others, be of benefit and create a space for people to develop and explore their minds and the true meaning of life.
Ability to work flexible hours, especially during retreats and events.
Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and harmoniously with others.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in Swedish is a plus, but not a must.
Computer literacy, good digital problem-solving skills or a can-learn-attitude.
Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage time effectively.
A good working knowledge of Tibetan Buddhism, and sensitivity to Tibetan culture and its protocols is a plus.
For international applicants, a legal right to work in Sweden.

The position is for 2 year with possible extension. The centre offer accommodation in a shared household in Stockholm and a modest month stipend. The time required for this position is deemed around 75%. The ability to work flexible hours is essential.
The expected start date is in the beginning of August. Handover sessions, online or in person, are planned to take place before summer.
