The department of Regulatory Affairs and Safety Compliance (RASC) is now looking for a new Director.

About us
The RASC department is responsible for two major areas:

Regulatory Affairs:
Regulatory Change Management where we actively follow the development of new regulations in order to support Product Planning with correct information regarding future product requirements and project target values as well as ensuring product/project compliance with applicable legislation over time. Volvo Penta is active globally in industry associations working with regulations and standards related to our products, and supporting regulators in the development of such.
Our main regulatory areas are exhaust and noise emission, substances of concern and product safety.

Safety Compliance:
We are present at all stages of product planning and product development with targets and requirements to secure compliance with relevant safety regulations and standards. An important part of the group responsibility is to handle type approval and product certification of marine products and agreements with classification societies to qualify Volvo Penta as a producer of classified products to the marine industry.
The function is owner of the Core value Safety and is coordinating product liability issues being a member of the Volvo Penta Product Safety Committee.

Regulatory Affairs and Safety Compliance is part of the area of Quality, Environment and Product Compliance. We are today nine people in the group including one person located in the US.

Position description
Are you passionate about sustainability and environmental issues? Are you interested in working and affecting future environmental and safety regulations for marine and industrial products? Do you have experience in working with exhaust emission regulations or certification and capable also to work with other environmental or safety regulations? Do you appreciate to lead an engaged team with competent colleagues in a stimulating international environment? If so you might be the one we are searching for!

In this vital position you will be responsible for that the team is present at all stages of planning and product development that are effected by regulations; from influencing new regulations together with other stakeholders in society, through implementing these new requirements in Volvo Penta's processes, projects and on the products, and finally follow-up of targets and requirements. Since interaction with both external and internal contacts is crucial for achieving results, good networking and communication skills are of high importance. As manager for RASC a strategic mind and ability to set targets are required. The job requires frequent travelling.

Core responsibilities
Strategic planning and responsible for RASC as a function
Establish regulatory targets for new projects together with Product Planning
Establish regulatory requirements for new projects together with Product Development
Handling of type approval certificates for Marine Commercial products
Coordination of product liability issues
Representing Volvo Penta in industry associations and in contacts with regulatory bodies
Market communication of regulation issues

Desirable experience and qualifications
Master of Science degree or similar level of education within relevant area
Leadership skills
Experience from Volvo project management model
Experience from regulatory work or emission certification of diesel engines
A structured and accurate way of working
Fluent in Swedish and English is a minimum. Other language skills are welcome
Great communication skills, both in terms of reports, presentations and dialogue
