• The site currently produces Genotropin, Fragmin and we are now adding Somavert protein manufacture.
• In 2006 a decision was taken to invest $190 million in a new strategic multi product biotech facility.
• Process validation work in the new Multipurpose facility will be completed in 2010, with commercial production starting later the same year.
The Director/Team Leader, Production and Site Technical Services, will be responsible for manufacturing and process development/support activities. This will include line responsibility of production, warehouse, dispensing, production support and process development.
The person we are looking for will provide manufacturing and development skills within biotechnology drug substance field. As a member of the site leadership team the incumbent will provide knowledge & experience to facilitate decisions at both the tactical and strategic level for the site and the network.
The role will be reporting to the Site Leader and will be responsible for approximately 85 people where 25 people work within process support and process development. You will have associate directors reporting to you.
Main areas of responsibility:
• Serve as a key member of the Strängnäs Site Leadership Team providing effective and responsive Business support to operations while ensuring superior performance in all aspects of the business.
• Champion a culture where colleagues feel valued and developed by creating open and trusting working relationships in a cross functional environment. Develop strategies which maximize colleague engagement and diversity.
• Develop an efficient, effective, and flexible team based organizational approach for the site, utilizing Lean thinking principles, during the start-up phase of the new multipurpose facility Bio 7 and in conjunction with other functions.
• Prepare budgets and forecasts for capital, resources and key business performance indicators.
• Participate in all relevant Pfizer activities within the area of responsibility. Develop and maintain relationships with the management in other Pfizer manufacturing sites.
• Have a clear manufacturing and production support passion as well as being close to the production pulse and the needs of the manufacturing.
Knowledge or Experience Required:
• Master of Science degree or higher in Natural Science is necessary. Background in Biotechnology is a requirement
• Relevant experience in leadership capacity in a development and manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of the necessity of development activities in a manufacturing environment
• Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills in Swedish and English; Proficiency in Swedish preferred
• Demonstrated Leadership skills in a global environment and demonstrated skills in dealing with both local and global arenas at the same time
• Ability to work effectively within a team environment and to interact successfully across divisional boundaries.
• Shown results in effectively managing cross-functional work streams
• Experience of using and implementing Lean principles
