As Zettle is growing rapidly, so is our Tech & Product organizations, and we are now looking to strengthen leadership team with a Director, Product & Engineering. You will have formal responsibility for the 200+ strong Tech & Product department and its employees (currently across two different geographies). You will develop and lead a fast growing organisation: embrace, test and evaluate change: prepare for scale. The role reports to VP and is located in Stockholm.
As Director you will be responsible for:
Make sure we attract, retain and develop top talents within the development area.
Participate in defining and administering compensation, benefits, and promotions for employees.
Facilitate individual professional as well as personal development of the employees.
Maintain a well functioning tech management team, with tech managers as direct reports.
Responsible for planning, execution and follow-up of budget outcome.
Is part of the management board representing the tech organization.
Is part of the Tech, Product and Design management team (TPD). Develops strategic planning for the direction and control of product development activities.
Provide the product delivery process with development capacity. This includes hiring, firing, and training of personnel to provide the desired development capacity.
Build and support high performance self organizing cross functional development teams. This includes:
Create an environment where teams can perform and have the necessary skills and mandate to work in a self organized way.
Recruit talent with needed skills and train the staff to develop new skills.
Help teams remove any impediments they are not able to manage themselves.
Participate in creating and be an active part of executing Zettle's company strategy.
We believe a successful candidate has below background and personal traits
Skills and experience in software engineering. Extensive knowledge and experience of best practices within the trade.
Is a visionary communicator, is frequently visible and present within the department.
Proven track record of encourage and promote excellent engineering practices to enable high quality, sustainable pace and low lifetime cost for the system. Train people as needed and allocate time for self-improvement in the teams.
