The section Powertrain NVH and Performance & Drivability is part of the Driving Dynamics and Noise & Vibration Centre within Product & Quality at Volvo Car Group. The centre has the responsibility to ensure that all dynamic attributes like Steering, Handling, Ride, Braking, Driver Assistance, Performance, Drivability, Noise, Vibration & Harshness (NVH) and Sound Quality are supported in the vehicle programs, both in terms of customer and legal requirements. Within the Powertrain NVH and Performance & Drivability section we have the responsibility for base engine and driveline NVH, powertrain NVH integration into vehicle and performance & drivability from a complete vehicle perspective in car programs and advanced engineering projects. The team works integrated in all project phases, contributing with attribute leadership, CAE and test analyses and guidelines to improve all attributes in Volvo cars.
Responsibilities include;
Leading and developing the Powertrain NVH and Performance & Drivability team, including the employees located at VCC sites abroad, to enable maximum staff utilization, securing prerequisites and follow up including reporting results.
Recruitment of new team members and securing competence development for all team members
Mentoring of team members
Responsible for Powertrain NVH & Sound Quality and Performance & Drivabillity strategy
Plan and manage the activities within the line organization such as operational and method development
Ensuring implementation of methods and processes to increase quality and efficiency within the Driving Dynamics and Noise & Vibration Centre and secure best practice and standardization
Ensure proper project staffing in vehicle, unit and advanced engineering projects including consultant on-site and bought capacity
Recognize and reward good performance of employees
Leading and follow up of the development work in all phases, mentoring and coaching the team to deliver in time to the right cost and quality
Being an active member of the Driving Dynamics and Noise & Vibration Centre Management team
Minimum Requirements
Master of Science or higher education in Mechanical/Vehicle Engineering or Engineering Physics or similar.
Minimum seven years professional experience
Fluent in English, written and spoken
Knowledge in structural dynamics and engineering acoustics, propulsion technology, performance & drivability and attribute engineering
Solid experience in vehicle development
Demonstrated leadership experience
Profound knowledge in CAE and testing, and propulsion technology
Personal Qualities
Strong in communication, mentoring and interpersonal skills
Highly driven and results-focused
Excellent ability to build contacts, both internally and externally Volvo Cars, and motivate / inspire
Proven ability to drive change
Business acumen
