Infinera Metro BG is now seeking a Director Hardware Engineering to lead the Infinera R&D Hardware unit. This person will be report into VP R&D and be part of the Metro R&D Management team.Your Key Responsibilities Would Include (but not limited to): Technical Responsibilities* Being overall responsible for the areas Electronics Design, Layout Design, FPGA Design, Optics Design, and Mechanics Design. It includes all phases in the product life cycle from Pre-study to end of life (sustaining activities) i.e. design, develop, test, document, maintain and assure quality of Metro HW.* Responsibility for the environment, lab instruments, SW tools or other needed to perform the work.* Engaging in technical and commercial dialogues with our vendors.* Enable customer understanding within the group. * Taking a long term responsibility for products. * Staying updated concerning relevant technical areas, keeping tools, methods up-to-date, process improvement, and new ways of working.Management Responsibilities:* Direct management responsibility for a Hardware management team of first line managers and direct reporting.* Being overall responsible for the hardware team of approximately 20 people.* Fostering a collaborative environment and work closely with other development units. Initiate and empower innovation and improvement.* Manage and motivate people. Work with competence development and knowledge transfer.* Recruiting employees and/or consultants when needed. * Perform salary reviews and performance management dialogues* Participate in the budget process by estimating the needs for future equipment etc.* General coordination and follow-up of the teams activitiesEducation & Experience Necessary for Success: * M.Sc. or B.Sc. or equivalent technical education * At least 5 years of management experience * At least 5 years of experience within HW development* Experience from Lean and Agile development * Proffered good overall system level knowledge of all the Infinera product platforms.* Knowledge of working conditions of similar kind.* Knowledge in fiber optics and telecom * Structured and thorough* Driven and willing to take own initiatives* Fluent in Swedish and English, written and spoken* Experience from working globally is an advantagePersonal Characteristics* Innovative* Highly motivated team player* Structured and thorough* Driven and willing to take own initiatives* FlexibleWe offer:* Tight cooperation with other disciplines and an agile organization* Short product development cycles, you will see how your work affects our products and sales* International possibilities of development and internal advancement* Social and wellness activities and clubs* A friendly and helpful atmosphere* Highly competent and motivated colleagues* A workplace in beautiful Marievik by the water in Årstaviken with a great supply of lunch restaurants and good communications
