Who are we

Vehicle Purchasing is a global organization within GTP representing a yearly purchased spend of 31 BSEK; the team is responsible for Cab, Chassis & Vehicle dynamics, Electrical & Electronics and Metal and the Medium Duty purchasing for the MD Business Unit.
Vehicle Europe Purchasing being the Strategic steering line for all vehicle purchasing activities within GTP, we organize a strong collaboration within vehicle purchasing teams spread across different sites/regions, and we are also the operational line responsible for Vehicle Europe business all along the Purchasing process (sourcing/projects/operations/revenue service parts). GTP Vehicle Europe purchasing team is responsible to drive end to end Purchasing activities whilst securing QDCF-TSR (Quality, Delivery, Cost, Feature, Technology, Sustainability and Risk Management) targets.

What is your Mission?

As Purchasing Director Project Office Vehicle, you are in charge of the introduction in our plants of all new products or product modifications through the intro-blocks (IB). Your responsibility is to cover the complete vehicle introduction, and as such, you represent GTP in the vehicle stream governance. You are leading a department gathering all vehicle Project Managers Purchasing (PMP), and coordinate Project Offices from other areas and regions. You act as the GTP owner of the global project portfolio and support GTP preparation in front of the Product governance up to product Board.
You actively support the roll-out of the new way of working in streams (vehicle and technology stream) by securing the right cross-functional interfaces, securing GTP deliverables and positions.

Main Responsibilities:

You are responsible for the development, leadership and engagement within your team as well as securing purchasing deliverables for the complete vehicle Intro-blocks. You drive the department activities towards wanted position and secure needed communication with your main stakeholders.

Other main activities:
Be a member in Vehicle Purchasing Leadership team and in an active way contribute to the development of the department
Represent GTP in the product governance (Vehicle committee, Operational Product committee and complete vehicle IB management)
Act as the Vehicle GTP SVP deputy for executive's fora.(Vehicle council)
Coordinate and report the global Vehicle product portfolio and intro-blocks status for the GTP EVP in front of Product Board
Represent GTP in cross functional project meetings whenever applicable and secure needed communication with cross-functional teams
Contribute to Product Roadmap providing GTP inputs (Brands, GTX)
Secure proper communication and knowledge of the IB management within GTP
Secure needed communication within the streams and communication within purchasing
Secure that the project requirements are transferred to the purchasing teams through the sourcing plans
Secure that Purchasing requirements are taken into account in projects pre-requisites
Secure set targets and KPI fulfilment for the Purchasing Project organization
Coordinate purchasing QDCF-TSR deliverables according to plan
Manage the development of staff
Secure and Manage resources within his/her area
Responsible for the budget & operating expenses
Work in accordance with the Volvo processes, the Code of Conduct and the Volvo Values.
Sign off Final Development Contracts on behalf of purchasing for his/her area of responsibility

For this role, it is important that you have a strong leadership experience, and a good ability to manage stakeholders. You must be business driven, have good communication skills and excel in cross-functional work coordination. Other key criteria:
University degree in Engineering/technology and/or Business Administration
Knowledgeable in current and future business trends, technology and markets
Ability to communicate, inspire and drive result in a global matrix organization

Provide direct & actionable feedback
Ability to handle uncertainty and the unexpected. Holds things together during tough times
