Aurobay is looking for a Director for Engine Controls and Diagnostics, a department in R&D, as the current Director is moving to new duties within our organization. This is a fantastic opportunity in a new business, where you will work as a leader for the organization in R&D which is responsible to develop functionality and calibrate our Engine Control systems. What will you do?
• Manage the Section of currently 125 persons organized in eight teams
• The section is responsible for the application software for engine controls and diagnostics. This includes both the code and the parameter optimization (calibration). The code is to most extent in house developed, but some parts are delivered by the ECM (Engine Control Module) supplier. When the company now expands its business from ICE only into complete hybrid powertrains and electrification, the section will take on and develop application software also for these areas.
• Most of the work is performed through testing of the engine, powertrain, or vehicle, mostly in rigs, but also on test tracks or public roads. The work combines this hands-on practical testing with advanced test planning and data analysis.
• The section is to some extent organized according to the agile principles outlined by SAFe. You will have a PM as your right hand on all technical questions. The teams technical work is led by PO: s, planning their work in sprints and increments using backlogs. For some teams the PO role is combined with the line manager role and for some teams this is split. Since all work is performed in projects, there is also a team of project leaders, responsible for the section delivery in each project.
Do you fit the profile?
We believe that you have a M Sc or B Sc in Electrical/SW Engineering.
• We value experience from technical lead of engineering within the powertrain area
• We value experience of embedded SW in general and engine control or diagnostics in particular
• Experience of DoE-type of methods and interest in method development in this area is expected
• Probably this is not the first managerial position in the your career
• Leading through team members, delegating, and supporting with trust is our preferred leadership style
• Forming new constellations as required going from being part of an OEM to an independent supplier
• Software for embedded systems
• Engine controls
• Secure, self-reliant but humble and listening to vast experience in the team when shaping the new organization
• Strong drive to change according to set targets for the organization
• Business development and "can do" attitude
