hela Sverige Internal Communication is part of Group Communication & Sustainability Affairs, Volvo Group. The department is responsible for driving and aligning Group level internal communication. We support our managers to be communicative leaders as well as communicate directly with our colleagues around the world to build engagement in our strategic direction, performance, shared values and more.
Volvo Group Magazine is a global publication for all Volvo Group co-workers, published five times per year. The purpose of the magazine is to inspire and engage employees by communicating Volvo Group from different angles; explain where the Group is heading, provide context and background information, highlight team work and success stories. The stories cover a wide range of topics such as customers, innovations, collaborations, products, strategy and culture.
Volvo Group Magazine is available in 13 languages. It is produced in partnership with an external agency and has a circulation of approximately 75,000 copies. Find out more at:
http://www.volvogroup.com/en-en/news-and-media/vg-magazine.htmlAs Director internal communication & Editor-in-chief you are responsible for running the global Volvo Group Magazine and for planning, coordinating and delivering Group level internal communication activities in general together with your colleagues in the IC team. You will report to SVP Internal Communication.
Main Activities and Responsibilities
• Drive the Volvo Group communication agenda by ensuring that the Volvo Group Magazine is an attractive and effective communication channel to the target audiences
• Develop ways of working for editorial collaboration between communicators within the Volvo Group and with external partners
• Contribute to shaping the annual Volvo Group communication plan
• Drive the execution of the plan by leading communication activities carried out by the Internal Communication department and by coordinating with other entities in the Volvo Group
• Act as communication support or advisor to projects impacting a majority of the Volvo Group employees
Coordination and collaboration with other communicators within the Group is an important part of your job and you will be expected to take a leading role. The purpose of the Volvo Group Magazine is to describe the strategic direction of the Volvo Group and to put the strategy into a context that is relevant to the target audience, i.e. all Volvo Group employees. Part of the content is also a source for external Volvo Group channels, which means that the magazine is an engine for editorial cooperation across trucks divisions, business areas and Group functions.
You are comfortable working with people at all levels. Listening is one of your most important tools. You have a sound understanding of the Volvo Group business and always make sure that you understand the need, preferences and environment of audiences.
You have a relevant formal education within communication and have extensive experience from working in a similar Communicator and Editor role. You are fluent in English and preferably in an additional major language used within the Group.
Above all, you are a strategic-minded doer who always delivers on time.

Critical competencies for the position:
You understand the difference between reporting about what happens in an organization and actively driving internal communication in a global company. Using a mix of journalistic craftsmanship, business understanding, common sense and good instincts about how to relate to people, you are able to shape communication that hits the spot. You are not afraid of questioning old truths and believe that following-up communication outcome is necessary in order to improve.
You have a nose for what makes a good story and understand how to present it in an attractive format, either in a printed magazine, as a film or for the intranet. You have experience from working together with content production agencies and other external partners, and you know how to follow-up on the quality and cost of the services they deliver.
Helping others build their communication competence is part of the job description and you look for opportunities to do so. You understand that different approaches work in different organizational and national cultures.
