Diagnostic Engineer with passion for cars

At RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT you will be a key contributor to the next generation outstanding luxury cars from Volvo. Together with other engineers over the world, you and your team will create innovative human-centric car technology that makes life less complicated and more enjoyable for people. We are looking for a DIAGNOSTIC ENGINEER who wants to be at the forefront of the trend towards more efficient and environmentally friendly powertrains. We hope you like challenges, responsibilities and a dynamic work environment and have the ability and desire to transform your innovative ideas on client functions and effective work procedures.

The group's teams are involved early in the development of new powertrain concepts. It is a large challenge to find solutions that both meet legal requirements and have maximum robustness not causing costumer disturbances. The teams are responsible for creating the technical system solutions, functional design and verification in full-scale test cars. When necessary, we arrange expeditions to various places in the world to test our hypotheses in environments such as severe winter cold and desert heat, combined with altitudes from sea level to high altitude roads in the alps.

We realize our ideas through the development of functionality (SW) in a number of embedded control systems. A large part of our software is developed in-house. This is especially effective during concept phase when everything from feature development to test in vehicle can be done same day.

Job profile:

• Functional design, calibration and verification of diagnostic software petrol engines
• Planning and method development of the functional design process and calibration process
• Contacts with internal and external suppliers

Your profile:

• Ability to work effectively as part of an engineering team in a mix of cultures
• Capability to understand complex systems and functions
• Talent for a structured approach
• Appreciate the strength in building networks
• Self managed, reliable and well organized
• University degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Applied Physics, Mechatronic Engineering or equivalent experience¨
• Positive attitude, proactive and attracted by a wide engineering role
• Experience from engines and engine control systems
• Knowledge within the Diagnostics and/or Dependability field is highly desired
• Skills in designing software algorithms and specifications
• Experience in use of commercial simulation tools, such as Matlab/Simulink
• Good level of Swedish and English both oral and written
