The Energy Storage System (ESS) Diagnostics group is responsible for the design and development of diagnostic solutions for on- and off-board diagnostics of traction batteries used in all of Volvos' electric products, such as buses, trucks, construction equipment, and marine applications. It covers the entire lifecycle of batteries, starting from breaking down requirements in the design phase, to repair, refurbishing, remanufacturing at the end of life, and all stages in between. This group is part of the Battery Management System (BMS) Section, which is responsible for the complete BMS - including the electronic hardware, electrical architecture, and the software for control and diagnostics of traction batteries.
We are now looking for new colleagues to join the ESS Diagnostics team as embedded application software engineers, working with the development of diagnostic functions and solutions for monitoring traction batteries.
Your responsibilities include
(Together with your team) set requirements, propose, investigate, and agree on solutions for diagnostics and fault handling for all aspects of traction batteries.
Function implementation using dSPACE TargetLink
Verify, validate, and follow up your solutions using various software- and hardware-based verification and validation methods.
Calibration of your diagnostic functions with ATI Vision to achieve basic system usability
To be successful in this position you need to be a team player with strong collaboration/networking skills and have an analytical mindset. You also need to be open-minded, self-motivated, and meticulous with independent critical thinking in your problem-solving approach. You also have the willingness to learn and take more responsibility with time in practical automotive applications.
To succeed in this role, you need
Bachelor's or Master's degree in control systems, mechatronics, electrical engineering, signal processing, engineering physics, or relevant field.
Experience with Battery Management System functions
Experience with Diagnostic systems and methods, function development, and system fault handling
Experience with embedded systems and software development.
Fluent in both written and verbal English.
Meritorious, if you have experience
From the Automotive industry
Within Embedded C & requirement handling software (SystemWeaver)
Within Automotive standards and practices related to Functional Safety and Cyber Security
Within in-vehicle communication technologies (LIN, CAN, Ethernet, diagnostic protocols, etc.)
You will also use the following tools in your daily work. Familiarity with any of these is meritorious:-
MATLAB Simulink/TargetLink
Calibration tool(s) for example ETAS INCA or ATI Vision
Vector CANalyzer
Git for version control
