The department Propulsion Energy System is responsible for development of major parts of hybrid and electric vehicle systems at Volvo Cars. The group Charging Software is responsible for delivering software functionality, in regards of actual software deliveries, but also software and diagnostics requirements as well as diagnostic implementation in both our internal SW and the supplier part of the software, for the on-board charger (OBC) and the DCDCs in our electrified vehicles.
The on-board charger (OBC) is essential for electrified vehicles, it holds the functionality to charge the traction battery from the grid, and it is for sure of highest importance in a pure electric vehicle. Both AC- and DC-charging are in current projects and wireless charging is already around the corner.
The DCDCs coverts energy from the traction battery to the low voltage system for suppling all the 12/48V power consumers in the car.

What will you do?
As a Diagnostics, Dependability and Quality Engineer you would take an active part in how the design for the diagnostics should be, to continuously review and improve the suppliers and the inhouse implementation. You will gain an understanding of the robustness of the diagnostics monitors, as well as the status of the vehicles in the field, and you need to able to analyse large amount of data to get this understanding. This improves the reliability and the quality of our products.
You need to be updated with the legal demands regarding OBDII and other emission related legislation, and ensure that the OBC and DCDCs will fulfil these requirements.
Main Responsibilities
* Requirement engineering, break down of top-level requirements as you are the bridge between System Design and the diagnostics implementation,
* Secure that the diagnostic implementation fulfils both legal demands as well as demands from ourselves within the product development
* Continuously review/improve the diagnostics implementation from supplier and inhouse
* Secure documentation and feasibility in suppliers strategy of diagnostic implementation
* Add/Update the diagnostic data in the Volvo cars database for diagnostics
* Support of developing fault tracing methods for efficient trouble shooting in workshops
* Lead the work of analysing the robustness for diagnostic monitors
* Monitor the data that we get from the vehicles in the field and use that information to work in a proactive way
* Participate as a technical expert in the verification and validation test activities
What do you need to have?
We believe that you have University degree within engineering, preferably power electronics or embedded system, M. Sc., B. Sc. or equivalent by work life experience. On top on this, you have some years' experience in the automotive industry and have worked with embedded system development before.
We are a global company so a must for us is that you are fluent in English. Also you should have a driving license (B), preferably you love cars as much as we do!
This is what you need to have. But we also have a few things that is nice to have!
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience of working with system design/system solution
* Familiar with diagnostic events, and the configuration of them
* Experience of AUTOSAR
* Experience of analysing large amount of data
* Knowledge about OBDII and other emission related legal regulation & requirements
* Knowledge about ISO 14229 /ISO 15765 (UDS services and communication)
* Knowledge about ISO 26262 (function safety)
Who are you?
In this role, you need to be structured, data driven and have good documentation skill. You are also used to corporate and communicate with people both internally at Volvo and also at supplier side since this is a large part of the role.
