hela Sverige Scania is undergoing a transformation from being a leading supplier of trucks, buses, and engines to providing complete and sustainable transport solutions. Together with TRATON and our sister brands MAN, Volkswagen Truck & Bus, and International, we are working to shape the future of mobility with innovative and environmentally conscious solutions. Our values - customer first, respect, team spirit, responsibility, and elimination of waste - are at the heart of everything we do. Together, we are at the forefront of creating a sustainable future.
Role Summary
As Scania continues to evolve in a world shaped by globalization, digitalization, and mobility, IT plays a pivotal role in delivering flexible, efficient solutions that meet both current and future business needs.
We are currently looking for a skilled and driven DevOps Engineer to lead the technical vision and architecture of our self-hosted GitLab platform and its supporting infrastructure on AWS. This role calls for deep expertise in scalable systems, cloud-native technologies, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and modern DevOps practices. You will collaborate closely with engineers, product owners, and leadership to ensure our infrastructure and systems are reliable, efficient, and aligned with both our business objectives and technical roadmap.
Job Responsibilities
Support & Monitoring
Respond to and resolve support tickets across internal and external channels.
Investigate system anomalies and follow up on monitoring alerts to ensure service reliability.
Continuously monitor observability tools (e.g., Datadog) to assess the health and performance of GitLab and related infrastructure.
Proactively identify performance bottlenecks and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Infrastructure & Automation
Build, maintain and evolve out cloud infrastructure on AWS using Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform and Ansible.
Manage and optimize our Kubernetes clusters and Serverless applications for resilience and scalability.
Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines in GitLab to support secure, reliable deployments.
Create and improve infrastructure automation using scripting languages such as Python and shell. (Collaborate on tooling and automation using Git, Python, and other scripting languages.)
Collaboration & Agile Delivery
Participate in Agile ceremonies including stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
Deliver high-quality work by contributing to Jira stories and sprint objectives.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams-developers, product owners, security, QA, and infrastructure-to define requirements and deliver improvements.
Documentation & Knowledge Sharing
Document infrastructure processes, deployment strategies, and operational workflows.
Share knowledge through internal documentation, demos, and contributions to the team knowledge base.
Architecture & Technical Strategy
Lead and participate in architectural discussions and solution designs in collaboration with Solution Architects to align and contribute to solution design in line with the technology roadmap.
Support technical roadmap planning and the breakdown of epics into technical enablers.
Who You Are
You are a self-aware and purpose-driven leader who takes ownership and inspires action. With a strong inner drive, you proactively navigate complexity, engage stakeholders effectively and consistently move initiatives forward, even in times of uncertainty. You balance strategic vision with hands-on execution and demonstrate confidence in your ability to lead and deliver results. Your leadership is grounded in trust, collaboration, and a continuous learning mindset, both for yourself and those around you.
To succeed in this role, you should have:
Minimum 8 years of experience in IT infrastructure.
Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Information Technology or a related field.
Proven experience of designing and implementing complex distributed systems in AWS cloud.
Familiarity with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles and practices.
Hands-on expertise in Gitlab, Kubernetes, Terraform and Ansible.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Proactive, self-driven attitude with the ability to lead cross-functional teams.
High attention to detail and strong documentation and reporting skills.
Proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
Strong problem-solving abilities and a solution-oriented mindset
We welcome applicants from all backgrounds - your unique experience and perspectives is valuable to us.
