We believe that DevOps cannot be performed in a vacuum. The best ways to improve engineering culture are to spread knowledge and good practice through the organization, and to reduce work through automation. We are therefore looking for team members who are technical enough to automate processes where possible and passionate enough to demonstrate to others the value of their craft.
As a DevOps Engineer at Mentimeter, we want you to have a keen interest in all aspects of the software development lifecycle. From the automated test suite to production telemetry. You are always looking for bottlenecks in how engineers work, finding ways to remove them through new projects or a change in practice. You will also play an active role in the improvement of our CI/CD pipeline. We strive to keep our self-service deployment times below 10 minutes, and when problems arise during deployment, you will be continuously looking for ways to surface those problems earlier in development.
You will be actively involved in discussions regarding the future architecture of our system helping to promote architectures that are easy to build, test and deploy. We keep our platform advanced enough to support our main use cases while keeping its complexity and maintenance cost low. If there is an external provider or SaaS that provides a good solution, we tend to choose it over building one ourselves. You will also help us maintain confidence in our deployment infrastructure while we re-evaluate our mono/multi-repo approach to development.
Skills & Requirements
We believe you have:
We believe that you have a few years of relevant working experience and an academic background, although not strictly required. It is good if you have some fluency in Javascript. If you have used monitoring tools like Datadog or Sentry or testing tools like jest or playwright, that's an extra plus. You should be an excellent communicator as part of the job is to enable others rather than solving the problems for them. You have a passion for software development, scalable architecture, and product building and at the same time, you like to help others grow and learn.
Not required:
You don't have to know Swedish (we are an English-first organisation, everyday work is in English and the Mentimeter team currently boasts over 40 different nationalities!)
