Job Description Summary:
In 2018, iZettle became part of the PayPal family. iZettle is on a mission to help small businesses succeed in a world of giants. Tens of millions of small businesses worldwide are still being underserved by the traditional players. By giving small businesses the tools to get paid, sell smarter and grow, we're empowering them to reach their full potential. Together with PayPal, we can reach 24 million merchants across the world with more of the affordable tools they need to thrive. Join us in putting an end to the ordinary way the world defines financial freedom.
As we continue on our quest to democratise financial services, we are now looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer to join our Runtime Team. In this role, you will get the opportunity to join a group of passionate people responsible for the day-to-day operations of our CI/CD systems, runtime environments and processes that allow millions of transactions to flow through our system every day. If this brief intro already sounds interesting to you, feel free to scroll down and read on for more info.
A glimpse of what you would get here
As part of the Platforms Alliance at iZettle, our core mission consists in providing a first class CI/CD and runtime environment for our development Teams, enabling them to iterate releases quickly and safely across our environments. In practice, we fulfil this mission by implementing tools and processes that help iZettle move faster than ever before. The CI/CD systems we maintain do hundreds of builds a day throughout the company and deliver every component of the products we release. We use these CI/CD systems for every type of service such as Backend, Mobile and Front-end to the different runtime environments we support.
On top of that, we are in charge of the runtime systems we support which are currently AWS ECS and Kubernetes, so that would also be part of your shared responsibilities. These runtime systems support the distributed microservices backends that run all of our products and are under continuous improvement to make workflows faster and safer for the developers we support.
Last but not least, as a member of the wider platform area you will be able to make a difference in a more general direction around shared DevOps domains between the platform teams such as infrastructure and monitoring, and collaborate on POC work as well as larger projects.
A few things to know about our Team
We are a remote focused Team with members sitting in Stockholm and Edinburgh and we collaborate closely with our Operations as well as various Teams across the organisation to deliver on common objectives. Our values as a team are collaboration, learning together and openness. In this spirit, we use tools such as pairing sessions and non formal calls to facilitate these values and allow everyone to be heard and contribute to the mission.
The skills you need to succeed
A solid expertise in CI/CD systems;
Some programming background (Python, Golang or Bash);
A passion to automate away repetitive tasks and increase efficiency;
A good experience with Docker;
Great collaboration skills.
You will earn extra points if you...
Are experienced in AWS specific Cloud;
Worked with PCI-DSS compliant infrastructures;
Are familiar with distributed systems;
Are versed in container orchestration (Kubernetes, ECS);
Comfortable with CircleCi, Concourse CI or Jenkins.
Sounds like you? Bring your talent to our attention!
Do you also believe in financial inclusion? If yes, let's take things further... We'd love to hear from you so go on, hit apply and let's talk!
Small minds never helped small businesses
It takes originality and an open mind to start a small business. That's why small minds have no place in ours. At iZettle, we celebrate the individuality of the people we work with, valuing the impact that diverse experiences, backgrounds, perspectives and ideas can have on our culture and the products we build. We're proud to be an equal opportunities employer, a place where everyone can benefit from equal access to professional development and bring their whole personality to work.
We're a purpose-driven company whose beliefs are the foundation for how we conduct business every day. We hold ourselves to our One Team Behaviors which demand that we hold the highest ethical standards, to empower an open and diverse workplace, and strive to treat everyone who is touched by our business with dignity and respect. Our employees challenge the status quo, ask questions, and find solutions. We want to break down barriers to financial empowerment. Join us as we change the way the world defines financial freedom.
